Didn’t hear my alarm this morning and shot Asia an hour late at +13. Ugly AMPS 353, but she had string of greens the other night so I guess for now I have to accept that 90% of her other numbers are crap.

Toki has a vet appointment today at +8. I collected a bit of the hot cocoa she left in the litter box. I’m assuming they will have to rule out an obstruction and take an X-ray (considering this is a cat that likes to eat plastic and styrofoam). I hope it’s nothing like that, we are keen to make sure we don’t leave things like that out, but if you have a cat that eats non food things, it’s always going to be a consideration. Hope it’s just a little bug that she can get over quickly.

Asia dear come back down today so mom doesn't get too stressed. At the vet office last week on one of my daily visits , they were doing emergency surgery on a drooler that had eaten a sock, it got half way thru then became lodged. Wonder if they paired it back up :woot:?

Oh I know! We have never had or known of a cat that eats non food things and I said to the vet “isn’t this a dog thing?” And they said it is more common in dogs, but they have seen a few cats that do it too. Perfect!

Sounds like you are getting spread pretty thin these days :bighug:, good luck with Toki's vet appointment. Miss Asia will be back to business in no time, so try and snag some rest while you still can!

Tons of vetty vines for sweet Toki. Our GA civvie, Mario, used to try to eat dryer sheets (!) and my plastic netted shower poofball thingie. And dental floss...we had to take him to the ER for that one, but fortunately the were able to "extract" it without surgery. And our GA civvie, Petey, loved plastic, too. We had to have cord covers on all of our lamps so he wouldn't chew through the wires!

Oh, Asia...work that juice!!

Back down we go Asia, nothing interesting on the pink floor.

Good luck with the Toki visit. I hope it doesn't involve an extraction. A lady I row with has a dog that likes to eat stones. One year she required two removals. Thank goodness both pet parents are vets. I used to joke about installing a zipper.

Been there, done that, as a kitten she chewed off and ate about a foot and a half of 3/4 wide ribbon off of the banister Christmas garland! We had no idea, of course, but she acted really weird and wasn't eating properly so I took her to the vet ER, in the most epic snowstorm ever. Took me 90 minutes to get somewhere 30 minutes away. It was awful, and they had to surgically remove the obstruction which was the offending ribbon. We are so careful about leaving anything out that looks Toki dangerous, so I hope it's not and doubt it is anything she ate, but probably will need an X-ray due to her history of eating things that aren't food. Asia is more than happy it isn't her going to the vet today.

Waiting at the vets, doing an X-ray just to rule out obstruction but she thinks gastroenteritis and that she will treat symptomatically. Asia is eating the same food and not having the same problems, so that's weird. Getting some blood work just in queso, but she's sending it out so it won't be back until tomorrow or later.

She said Toki is in great shape and her teeth look amazing, no tartar at all. Toki has been on a raw diet her whole life, so I hope that has something to do with it and she's spared the teeth issues Asia has had to contend with.

Toki back from vet, no obstructions, stomach is empty and she's full of diarrhea. They gave her metronidazole because they said it would knock out just about anything it could be. We walk on the city streets a lot, they are gross, don't wear shoes in the house, but Toki walks through the foyer where our shoes are so if she picked up giardia or something like that, or perhaps from her food. Whatever it is, hopefully can be knocked out. They gave her a camel hump and some cerenia, hopefully she will eat soon.

Also got clarification on treating kidney infection for Asia, it's not treat for 2 weeks and done, it'd treat for 2 weeks and come back see how everything is going, if it seems to be working, continue, and if not, re-evaluate.

I thought kidney infections took 6 weeks or longer to cure. I'm sorry if you thought it would only be 2 weeks. I wish Asia and you The Best with putting up with all the medications and wish her on the way to much healthier kidneys soon.
I'm sure glad Toki didn't have an obstruction, and is soon feeling better too. :bighug:

That's what I asked clarification about today, they prescribed the abx for 2 weeks and I read that is takes much longer than that, but it doesn't mean she will only treat it for two weeks, I guess she's going to check bloodwork again to see if it's getting anywhere and if the antibiotics are working? If they are, continue to treat for longer, and if not, plan b.

Sending feel-better vines for Toki and for Asia's kidney thing. I'm so glad that Toki didn't eat something dangerous. Stu used to eat flowers. We had to forbid guests to bring flowers because the minute he saw them he would think they were for him. Fortunately he was never poisoned. I used to sneak around behind unaware guests and put their flowers out in the hall!

Thanks, Ella. :bighug:

Yikes, and smart you! Lillies especially are deadly toxic to cats, just a wee bit of pollen falling and them stepping in it and licking it off could kill them. The girls get flowers frequently and thankfully they are often roses which are fine. If it's a mixed bouquet, we look up all the flowers and chuck the bad ones! Thankfully, they aren't in to eating flowers, but better safe than sorry! But...I think it's easier to keep flowers out of the house than plastic, it's everywhere and on everything!

Glad to hear Toki did not have an obstruction! We also have a ribbon/plastic/anything-eater, and she’s also had ribbon surgically removed in the past, so we know that fear. Hope Toki feels much better with the fluids and anti-nausea!

Also, here’s hoping Asia’s numbers come down soon, and she feels better!!
