Challenging yesterday

Zener is doing a little better this morning but appy is still poor. He had to check out the red team after his nice numbers yesterday. :roll: We are at the vet now. Zener is getting bloodwork done, urine sample, and subq fluids. We expect his BG to drop after the fluids. He might start on prednisolone to help with the IBD.

Good vetty vines coming your way! I hope he feels better soon. Those appy issues are no fun. Tarragon is on the prednisolone for his asthma but it has done wonders for his IBD as well. I know steroids are scary with the FD kitties, but it is manageable. Thinking of all of you.

Back from the vet. Blood test and urinanalysis - waiting for results. Thank you, Melissa, for your comment on prednisolone. It's be a wonder for Tillie too.

Good to see Zener came down out of those icky reds into a much more suitable yellow. Was that +4 after the vet? Nice, if so. Vet visits raise Cinco's BG, but he's very sensitive to stress. I hope if the vet finds anything in the tests it's something fixable and fairly minor. Sometimes you WANT them to find SOMETHING so you can understand what's going on and deal with it. Sending good test result vines and good appy vines, too. Hugs to the beans. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Beautiful sliding today Zener. I hope you are extra hungry and eating your fuds tonight in prep for a long blue surf.

I'm continuing to send appy vines for Z-man and also good b/w results vines. :YMHUG: He deserves lots of petting tonight.

The slide continues! :mrgreen: He's getting a honey-laced treat (he quivers with excitement :lol: :lol: ). Not too surprising after those squids this morning. Appy is better, still not great. We are watching kittens being born, tinykittens.com/live.

Vet results - lab values summary for his kidneys but we don't have the specific numbers yet. "His bloodwork showed elevated BUN and Phosphorus, but the Creatinine was still normal." The vet thought it was most likely GI symptoms and a flare of his IBD this time. We are considering a trial of Budesonide, our vet prefers that first for cats with FD and IBD. In the meantime, we have fluids, an increase from 1 to 2 mg Ondansetron for nausea, and Cerenia for five days in a row. He is definitely feeling better tonight, appy has improved and we are a little nervous to see the :mrgreen: at +1. Zener always seems to go low the cycle after he gets fluids.

I'm glad that along with your tests came a plan. I don't know what your plan means, but you do and that's what is important. Could you tell me what IBD means?

Thanks for stopping by to check in on our guy Ella and Rebekah. Right you are Ella, something we can work with for sure!

Rebekah - IBD is inflammatory bowel disease. Zener was diagnosed with feline diabetes almost three years ago, and IBD and CKD (chronic kidney disease) a year ago.

We dance quite the elaborate dance with some of our kitties, managing more than one condition. We have learned so much here about all sorts of health issues in addition to feline diabetes. We would not still have our guy, with such a good quality of life, if we hadn't found the knowledgeable and generous people here. :YMHUG:

Wow, Zener is busy in the lagoon tonight! I'm glad you had a good vetty visit and that the report is optimistic, with Z feeling better too :-D I hope he enjoyed his honey laced treat and that the beans can catch some sleep ;-)

I'm so very glad that Zener is feeling much better. I'm still sending tons of healing vines, positive appy vibes, and prayers for a continued, and speedy recovery for him.

And I'm watching the panting Momma right now. :lol: Although I should be stitching. The kittens aren't going anywhere. Thank you for sharing that link. :-D I can never get enough of kittens.

I am glad that Zener is feeling and eating better today. Also, it seems like the vet has a plan in place. Sending prayers for the medicines to help Zener.
