Good luck Claudia. I'm keeping you and Rocket in my thoughts and will be refreshing the screen often to check for updates. Sending you and Rocket lots of hugs.

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS/IM VET APT TODAY

May Rocket feel better & may this vet help you both--We are praying for you today!!

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS/IM VET APT TODAY

I hope things go well at the vet today and you get some much needed answers. I'm glad Rocket was able to sleep in your arms for a little bit -- that must have been very comforting.

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS/IM VET APT TODAY

Good luck at the vet today....anxiously awaiting the results. Healing vines and prayers!

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS/IM VET APT TODAY

Thinking of you and Rocket today, Claudia. I will be interested in hearing what the vet says.

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS/We're BACK

Back from apt.

IM vet thinks to a degree it's neurological (she won't give a dx on it as it's not her expertise) but with his other many issues her concern right now it's his kidneys and diabetes...but she said of the two the main one would be the kidneys...for now no course of action until blood results are back...which could be Monday/Tuesday...once again...the waiting game!

she did mention however that i need to change his food to a kidney food...even if it's dry kidney food...she wants to take him off the aluminum hydroxide hence changing the food...as her concern maybe that he has aluminum hydroxide toxicity...i asked if there was such a test to check...she said no...that the change in food and withdrawing the binder should clear it if that's the case....

she got the thryroid results and it's negative...i guess the reg vet faxed that info this morning...i will contact his reg vet to get that copy...

he is being referred to see the neurologist on Wednesday at which point he will also have an abdominal ultrasound to see if anything else is brewing that may not show up thru blood work...the u/s could not be done today...so come Wednesday from 9-11 am we will be there...but i suspect probably past that time...poor guy...doesn't know what awaits him...

i asked about his quality of life...she said (cause he was taken to the back for his bp reading, exam and blood work) he gave quite the fight and to her doesn't sound like he is...but that i've done an excellent job with him the last 2 1/2 yrs with his multiple issues and it will all depend on what the neurologist has to say...

so this is where we are right now...we were there over 2 hrs...and on the way home the strangest thing happened with Rocket...he does not go in a carrier...so he usually sits moving back and forth from the front to the back...but this time he just sat in the back and actually fell asleep on his side as i had put his blankets on him...he would not move at all...only when i pulled over and got home he got up...it was so strange as that has NEVER happened...wonder if it was still the effect of the bupe or he was simply too tired....

he ate lots when we got home...1 hr til testing time...i don't know if i should bother testing...he went to the tub after he ate and was trying to sleep...i took him out and went to the futon with him...he was actually pawing away and purring away...short lived to only 10 mins...now he is sleeping on the floor in the spare room...

so that's that...so basically i still don't have answers...and believe me i asked many questions...she was busy writing things down...but i'm sure the reg vet gave her the heads up that i do ask lots of questions...

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS/We're BACK

Hi Claudia,

It sound like you visit went ok today, and hopefully you will get some answers next week.

Whiskers and I are also doing the waiting game. We may also have to try different food, and may also need an abdominal ultrasound. We find out next week as well.

It is really funny, Whiskers almost falls asleep on the way home from the vet to, maybe it is stressful and exhausting for them and hence there tired.

Well I hope you have a nice weekend cat_pet_icon .

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS/We're BACK

I'm glad you're back and that he did okay with the visit. Sounds like she has some things for you to try, which is encouraging. I hope next week's visits bring more answers, and hopefully the food change will help.

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS/We're BACK

Hi Claudia - the visit sounded promising: there are things to try. I hope things go well next week when you go back. Paws crossed! Good luck with the new food.

Maybe he fell asleep on the way home cus he's just relieved he is on the way home, and he can relax some. It's got be be stressful there. It was nice that when you got home he sat with you a while and purred - wonderful. Mannie never stays long either when he comes for a lap sit. I am grateful for whatever he will give me.

I hope you guys have a nice weekend.

Hey Rocket - I hope you are OK, and that the trip to the vetty place wasn't too bad. Hey me and the gang can come and pay you a visit if you want. See you, maybe? ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS/We're BACK

It sure does sound like a good visit. I think they know as soon as leaving the Vet's office and in the car they're going home. Good thoughts and prayers for Rocket and you.

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS PM BG=no test/We're BACK

i decided not to test him tonight...so no idea where he is at with his BG

gave him the pheno and pepcid....

he did eat lots at his +10.5 soon after we got home from the apt...

i will let him be the rest of the night....he has been for the most part in the spare room...seems pretty calm which is odd...in all his apts...he's never been this calm coming home....strange...but hopefully this settles him with whatever is happening....

more stress awaits him next week...as he will be sedated for the ultrasound...that scares me cause the last time he got it done...it took the whole weekend to clear...

thank you guys for keeping us close to your hearts...means a lot...

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS PM BG=no test/We're BACK

J.D. will usually cry and be all agitated on the way out, and then be relaxed and happy on the way home. I think Rocket knew he was going home, after he had had a long and stressful day. Fingers crossed for Rocket to feel better and better.

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS PM BG=no test/We're BACK

Claudia: lots of information and I'm hoping that this vet can make some sense of all that is going on. Here's hoping that he will continue to eat, get his strength, and get better.

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS PM BG=no test/We're BACK

Claudia-- it sounds like you're in knowledgeable hands, so hopefully some answers will be forthcoming soon. Continued healing thoughts and prayers going out to both of you!

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS PM BG=no test/We're BACK

Claudia I'm so glad you are back - overall it sounds positive to me too. I popped in and saw your update but didn't get a chance to reply after it. Glad Rocket is doing so well after a stressful vet visit. Did the doctor say anything in particular about seeking out the tub?

That's cool that you didn't have to put Rocket in a carrier and he got some sleep in the car. What a sweetheart.

So how do you feel after meeting with them and talking with them?

Sending lots of hugs. Hope you get some rest tonight.

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS PM BG=no test/We're BACK

Hi Claudia, All in all it sounds like a good vet visit. At least some things were ruled out, and when you get the next round of results you will be closer to a plan of action. Rocket sounds like he did remarkably well at the vet's. You are wise to just let him eat and sleep this evening. I hope that you will be able to sleep, too, and that the weekend will bring both of you rest and comfort.

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS PM BG=no test/We're BACK

Maybe Rocket is comng back to himself and now at least he is peaceful & quiet, not agitated or shivering--That's such a good sign-
Hugs & we all have you both near our hearts--LL is your family! Ni Ni & try to sleep some.

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS PM BG=no test/We're BACK

Glad to read you had a nice vet visit :-D Hope you can both relax this week-end… More good thoughts and prayers for Rocket and you next week… :YMHUG:

Re: 1/28 Rocket AM BG 95=NS PM BG=no test/We're BACK

I've let him be for the most part... Only to bring him food and see he is ok... He's been in the spare room which is better than the bathroom...he's been sleeping lots... All meds in place for the night...have left my pc in there playing soft music for him in the hopes it relaxes him... Ate some more about an hr ago...gave bupe as well just in case...

Will contact his vet tomorrow...

I hope we get real answers come Wednesday.

Ni ni everyone... I'm trying to not think about it too much.. For a change I'm watching tv to relax myself here...

Thank you so much

Claudia, good decision to not test and just let him rest. A stressful day for him, and sounds like he's exhausted. The toxicity possibility is intriguing. It sounds as if changing the food can cause a pretty fast change, so FINGERS and TOES CROSSED! In the meantime, the waiting is hell, isn't it? I do hope you can relax and sleep tonight. It was a good vet visit, things are underway, he's eating well, and you've got him safe at home. These are all good things! Will watch for your posts, and keep the sweet boy in my prayers. Sooty is making a miraculous recovery, and Rocket can too!
