Yesterday, Neko hopped on the blues train, and house destruction/construction started up behind us.

1/27 Recap:
AMPS 123 +7 175 +9 121
PMPS 103 +4.5 109 +8 141

I'm up and posting earlier than usual. Got woken up this morning by the sound of an excavator on the property behind us. I'd much rather be woken up by a whining cat - cause you can cuddle them. Neko is a little on edge with the noise, especially when something goes crashing down. Years ago we had some house renovations done (2 bathrooms) and Neko used to run away and hide outside first thing in the morning, until end of day when the truck was gone. She's been leery of guys wearing ball caps ever since.

Looks like possible solarium weather today. There's going to be complaining cats if the chain saw starts up near by and robs them of their sunshine. Ugh!

Hope your day is quieter than mine. Vines to all kittehs and beans in need.

Construction noise is no fun...we've been doing renos for years (and have years to go), so I can relate to ya, Neko!!! Very nice start for Neko...surf it, little one! Have a great day, Wendy!

I wish we had kitty ear muffs! I had to haul Neko out from under the bed for that last test. Thank goodness it's on wheels. The excavator is still going, along with the chain saw, and the odd loud thump as a piece of tall tree falls to the ground. Both kitties were only briefly out in the solarium. I've never seen Theo move so fast into the house as after a 30 ft piece of tree landed on the ground. I hope today is the last day of tree felling.

@ Amy, Carla, Voula, Liz - Not only is it noisy, but they are ruining a little "wild" patch that Neko used to love to hang around. Not that she goes out much any more.

I hate it when people take down trees. What's wrong with them? And then there are the people who complain that a branch of one of your trees is hanging over their property! :arghh: Heaven forbid they should have to rake up leaves that don't belong to them! Or have to put up with birds that sit on that branch and leave droppings in their yard.

Neko, Theo, hang in there. It'll be over soon, we hope.

Thanks for the info. on the carb content of Honest Kitchen, Wendy. That's what I read on their website, but I was hoping that they were using a different formula for determining carbs. Sorry you can't get the samples in Canada.

Have a good evening.

Neko, here's a little something to help with the deconstruction in your backyard. Just play some nice calming Neko Case...loudly to drown out the offensive buzzy, thumpy sounds.

One of the frustrating, but incredibly cool, features of the sanctuary. About 3000 acres. Lots of buildings for dogs and cats and feathered critters, etc. No straight roads, and many forked and split. Why? When the Founders started building the place, sort of haphazardly, over 30 years ago, they vowed to leave a light footprint. No trees were ever removed, save those too storm damaged to be saved. Poor visitors...it's a spaghetti configuration of roadways causing lots of out-of-state lost cars. But it's a true indication of the philosophy of the place.

Wish whoever was taking down what nature put up near your house would have a similiar philosophy.

Zoiks! Definitely a stressful day for Miss Neko!

@ Ella, Marilyn - We live 5 minutes walk from the woods on the slopes of a mountain. Why someone would move here if they didn't want trees. Apparently he did grow up near here, but considered the little corner "wasted space". I worry because a few years ago another neighbour took down a couple of trees near their pool, and a strong windstorm after caused others to fall. The trees protect each other too. And depending on the wind direction, those tall trees would crush our house. Apparently Neko wasn't happy with it either. @Marilyn - some day, I'd love to visit the Sanctuary - it sounds awesome.

Hi Wendy and Neko! Neko looks great in her blue! Sorry you had some commotion today. Billie hates commotion too. She and I are both a little jumpy by nature, and sometimes when there is a loud noise outside or from the apartment upstairs, we have the exact same reaction. Well, not exactly the same, because I can't hide under a chair. I hope the rest of the trees get to stay put!

boo hisssssssssss to the neighbour. Hope your furries adjust quickly and stop concerning themselves about it
