Yesterday's Condo

We're off to a much better start today, numbers-wise. Cinco did not get a +8 snack, so maybe that is something we need to discontinue (he won't appreciate that). Of course, that could have nothing to do with it. He was still dropping a +8, I think, so we got a lower AMPS. Or he's just being a cat.:cat:

Right now he's wandering around the family room, meowing. It's almost time for a test and I think he wants his snack. I don't think he's noticed yet that Harvey is not around to harass him. I wish he would take this opportunity to move around the house more. I really think the exercise is good for him. He's such a sedentary cat. He was like that before he went blind, but he's ever more so since.

Minka did not eat this morning. She was interested, but had that look like she was afraid to. I gave her the Ond/Pepcid gelcap just over an hour ago. If she doesn't eat in the next hour I will syringe some a/d and see if that sparks her like it did yesterday. She continued to snack all evening. There were a couple of bites left on her plate when I went to bed and they were gone in the morning. :)

Sasha ate her breakfast, with assistance from Forti Flora and her treats. Harvey is protesting the flavor (Wellness turkey) and holding out for FF. Once again, I may have to give in. Why can't these kids...er...cats eat what's good for them???

Cinco's getting louder, so I'd better go fix his snack.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF & DH, Lisa's DF and Elise's DM.

I hate to admit it, but I have found myself to be a whole lot less stressed once I finally caved to Fancy Feast and Purina One, even though those really aren't good for Trix as far as phos goes. I decided I had to balance both her QOL and my QOL along with keeping her feeling as good as possible, as long as possible. When I was trying to get her to eat "healthier", it was stressful and unhappy for both of us. And, the healthiest fuds in the world isn't worth squat if they won't actually eat it!

I also learned that syringe feeding really isn't the worst thing in the world, either. I'm glad it worked well for Minka last night, and hopefully it will do the same today if it's necessary.

I hope everyone's happy hits the right balance with today. Have a great one, Tricia!

Nice to see at least one of them on a fuds prowl! Better eating vines all around! Continued luck w/ the syring feeding jump start!

Looks like we're surfing blue. Since it's low blue, I'm not going to complain.

Sasha just ate a HUGE lunch, all without kitty crack or cookies! :):):) Harvey cleaned his bowl when I gave in and gave him FF. Looks like the vines helped, @Ann & Tess !

I gave Minka some Mirtz, then about twenty minutes later went up with a syringe. When she saw me she got up and went to her plate and ate almost half of what was on it! I went ahead and syringed 3 ml anyway. I'll give her the rest later. @Amy&TrixieCat and @Dyana, do you store partial or full syringes in the fridge or do you squirt it back into a container? If you leave it in the syringe, how do you warm it up when it's time to feed again?

You're right, Amy. I feel better since I stopped obsessing about giving them low phos food. As long as they're eating!

Yay for eating! :) And love the blue! We used to put the syringes in warm water for about 5 minutes to warm them up from the fridge.
Liz

I would blend up a batch of food, and fill about 20 syringes at a time. I would give from 2 to 4 syringes at a sitting (20 to 40ml), so I often just kept the remainding filled syringes in the refrigerator. I would take out what I need, and put them in a cup of somewhat hot water and let them warm up a bit before syringing.

Since I do Trix's syringes on an as-need basis, which is pretty hit or miss (fortunate not all that often), I do only fill them one at a time and squirt them back in if I don't use it all.

Yay for Sasha chowing down, and Minka coming in close behind!!!

What a blue-tiful day for Cinco!!

And WOO HOO on the better appys for Sasha and Minka!!

Not too much longer now Harvie...you're on the last half of your confinement! Soon you'll be out on parole!

Hope you have a quiet night tonight and all your kitties eat their fuds without any "coaxing" from you!

Synchronized eating? At your house? With your kits? YESSSSSSS! Now, you four, do it again. And again. And again. And you know girls, I'm really talking to you.

Cinco, lovin' those blues.

Lookit my flat blue kitty! Ain't he cool?:cool::cool:

Thanks for visiting us, Carla, Liz, Dyana, Amy, Chris and Marilyn. Thanks also for answering my question about the syringes. I did squirt back the leftovers on the first syringe, but in future I might refrigerate it and warm it as Liz and Dyana recommend.

After coaxing and plate chasing, Minka finished her dinner (while I held the plate, of course). I think Sasha was still full from her lunch, but she ate about half of her dinner, and another 1/4 with Forti Flora and cookies. I left the last bit for her to hopefully snack on later. She (Sasha), had another loose poo and I had to wash one of her hind legs.:stop: Not her favorite thing, or mine. I don't understand why her stool is loose - she is back to eating food she's used to, and she gets plenty of Forti Flora. Very frustrating for both of us.

Harvey is still being amazingly good in the cage, despite being off the meds. It gives me some comfort that, if I do have to board him at some point, he won't go completely nuts. His appy is still pretty happy, provided he gets the "good stuff" (meaning the stuff that's bad for him )!

I crossed an item off my lengthy "to do" list today - cleaning the refrigerator. It wasn't as bad as it has been on past occasions, but it was a needed task. Unfortunately, when I put one of the shelves back on the door and reloaded it, I didn't have it completely seated, and the whole thing came crashing down! Luckily, none of the bottles on it broke, but the front of the shelf, which is clear plastic, did. I called a GE repair place in Sac and they ordered a replacement that I can pick up tomorrow while Minka is getting her chemo. Sigh. It's always something!

Well, time to set the table and heat up the leftovers. Then we are going to attempt a group picture for the UCDVMTH PR people! Wish us luck (we're gonna need it!).

Hi Tricia, Cinco, Sasha, Minka and Harvey! How nice that everyone ate well today! I am sending feel good, eat well vines to all of them. A group picture sounds adorable! What a cute idea. Good luck!!

Nice to hear from you, Deanna, and Marilyn.

Cinco decided to follow China into the lagoon tonight, much to my surprise! :D Not complaining, just wasn't expecting this!

Sorry to disappoint, @Deanna & Billie and @Wendy&Neko, but the group pic was a bust! No surprise to us. They will just have to use individual pics. I have tons of Sasha and Minka, but Cinco is harder to capture. I'm printing up a bunch to show him tomorrow and will e-mail him any he likes.

Sasha was growling the entire time and Cinco just wanted out of there!
