Good Morning, LL! :-D Yesterdays Condo: Chyna 1/27

Well, we are back in stinky pinky! We did a dosecrease last night, so this could be NDW, or a bounce from the lovely blues, or both...either way, icky :lol: I started today with a new meter, the ReliOn Prime. I compared it to Bayer last night at PM+4 (Bayer was 222 and ReliOn was 167) so they weren't even close to under 20%. I compared Bayer with Accu-Chek the day before and it was way over the 20% meter varience with them too, so maybe the expired strips weren't good...who knows. The strips for the ReliOn are a little tricky with the pushing in and getting it to turn on...any tips? I push it in enough to not turn on, but then when I push it the whole way it doesn't turn on...guess I'm getting it too far in to have it "prepped"...it's fine when I just take the strip and push. Guess I'll have to change my method :lol:

I bought some L-Lysine yesterday, and was curious what to start the dose at? While searching it, some people mentioned 1/16 tsp BID, some 1/8 tsp BID, and some half a cap BID. I bought the 500mg SISU brand and when I tasted the powder in the capsule it seemed tasteless ;-) Any help is appreciated!

Chyna seems ok today, she ate all her fuds overnight and this morning. Some poo and pee, and she is always preening. I love it when kitties wash their face, so cute! I'm thinking of Zener today at the vet and hoping all goes smoothly, and sending vines to all kitties and beans in need. Happy Tuesday! :razz:

Come on down Chyna! I'm no help with the dosing question. Nice on the appy, poo, pee, and preening. I was watching Tarragon clean his face last night and thought the same thing. Too cute. Have a great day Rachel!

Hi guys .. boo on stinky pinky! I hope Chyna makes her way down today .. I love it when my girls clean themselves .. I always help by singing "this is the way we wash our face, wash our face, wash our face .. Usually by the time I start with the next line they are disgusted by me and walking away :lol: :lol: have a great day guys!

I love to watch a kitty wash their face after they enjoyed their meal. I hope Chyna comes back down soon. I hate to see numbers go up right after an increase. It is frustrating.

I, too, think they are adorable when they wash their faces. That's usually how I know they are done eating. They don't do it until they've had all they want.

I'll be watching with interest to see what the L-Lysine dosing suggestions are. I've been considering that for my cats that have allergies.

FWIW - I buy 500 mg capsules and split one per day - half into the main morning meal and the other half into the main evening meal.

Add me to the list of loving to see kitties wash their faces♥ Cleo usually does her grooming on the catio, and I stand at the window and stalk her (according to DH).
Hope Chyna settles into this dose and gives you some better colors. No experience with lysine, but I wish you good luck :-D
I use the Relion Confirm, and I just push the strip in, wait for the beep and test. Not sure if the Prime works the same way or not. I can push the strip in, give Cleo some rubbing, and then poke her. It gives me a good amount of time to collect the blood. Then I close my eyes and wait :lol:

I think just about anything a kitty does is insanely adorable...they don't call me a crazy cat lady for nuthin'!!! I hope she's working out that NDW by now!! I'm sure you'll master The Prime in no time. Have a great evening, Rachel!

What the heck is with the PMPS? I don't think I like my new meter!!!

Tonights shot was an ouchie/jerk the needle out :shock: . I hope it's ok I put it back in and finished the shot...I think all the insulin got in, no Lantus smell on the fur. Is it a stupid question to ask if injecting in two spots next to eachother are going to be affecting her different?

Blech Chyna - what'ya doing up there? Glad to see you are headed for pink already. Might be a bounce as a result of all that lovely blue yesterday. And some meters do read higher at the higher end. It's the low end where it's important to be accurate. I think my Confirm registers a bit higher than my Contour at the high end but I'll take the cheaper strips any day. :lol:

I too just use half a Lysine capsule at a time. You can get it in pure format, so that may be why you see different dose sizes.

Sorry about the ouchie shot. There shouldn't be a problem doing two different injection sites. People with very high dose cats do that all the time. Remember - there are no stupid questions, just ones you don't know the answers to yet. ;-)

Whoa, I wasn't expecting Chyna to drop that far! I'm thinking this will cause another bounce :roll: Yay for blue! Extra LC fuds coming up to leave out, bean needs to sleep for work tomorrow...

Thanks Wendy, I was just kidding on the meter (well, half kidding :lol: ) I'd much rather it be accurate lower end! And cheaper ;-) I have no clue if the L-Lysine is pure...it doesn't say so I'm guessing not? Thanks for the info on the two shots area, I had to ask even though I felt silly :? :oops: It never occurred to me for high dose cats you do that, it's interesting to know!
