? 1/27 Shooter AMPS 417, +4 157, +5 132, +8 318, PMPS 585

Can someone please look at Shooter's SS and let me know if what I did was right or what I should have done differently... Because Shooter was dropping so quickly in 4 hours and his nadir is usually around +7 or +8 and because I had to leave for a few hours, I fed him 1 tsp 20% carb at +4 and +5 then left. He's back up to 318 with 3 hours to go before PMPS. Should I have let him go and not fed the high carb? Should I have given a smaller amount? I just was worried because I had to leave and wouldn't be able to monitor him.

Yes he was bouncy last night.

As high as he was, he did not need 20% carbs. I would feed Neko a tsp of her HC if she was in the 60's or 50's and I had to go out and it was still a couple hours until nadir. But her HC was 16%. You might want to invest in some medium carb - 11-15% for the next time this happens. Ideally low carb would be better, and if you know when his nadir is, you could do LC if it wasn't much later. It looks like it's around +6 - what do you think? If you only had an hour until nadir and he was up at 132 and dropping 20-30 points per hour (that's not exact but rough guess based on previous drop), he would still be safe on low carb.

Ok, thank you for fixing my post. He used to nadir around +8 but things might have changed and because I didn't chart for so long I don't know now. I will get better. Unfortunately, his PMPS was 585! :( Is that because I fed him the higher carb food?

I can think of two reasons for the higher numbers, maybe three. First of all, he's bouncing due to the steep drop. From 417 to 157 is a 260 point drop in 4 hours. Maybe even in less time that than as they don't drop until after onset, which is typically a couple hours after the shot. He also hasn't seen many blues, so could be bouncing from that too. And finally, yes, it's possible the higher carb food later in the cycle could have shortened his duration, causing the insulin to wear off faster. Sort of a perfect storm.
