Yesterday

Trix is ok today....she does seem a better, but she's not 100% Trix - but she is doing more "Trixie Things" than she was yesterday. I do have to say that she's not terribly under the weather, but she is just "blah"...not the energized Trix I had last week, and her appy is a little hit or miss. It all came on so suddenly, and she has so many different things going all at once that is really is impossible to pinpoint why she's off a bit, although my gut does tell me it's a combination of a reaction to the B12 injection on Friday and probably the ABs finally starting to get to her. Fortunately she is down to only one AB - the Zeninquin is done.

She doesn't seem as jumpy today as she was over the weekend, so if the B12 was bothering her, hopefully it's starting to dissipate.

Her appy is so-so...at moments it is very happy; at other moments it is mediocre. So far is hasn't been flat out MIA, though. It was pretty stressful for me yesterday because she ate somewhat well for me in the morning, but then petered out while I was at work - plus I had to go food shopping after work. So I couldn't puree up any food and do any syringes until I got home. (DH has never assist-fed...he'd be OK with doing it, but it's easier to demo this sort of thing than it is to try and explain how to do it through e-mail).

I did do a couple syringes last night, and it for her it really seems to act like and appy-stimulant (she can't tolerate chemical stimulants - they make her very weak). With the first syringe, I initially offered her a plate of food - she took a few gingerly licks. Then I syringed, and then I offered her the same plate of food - she dove into it! I did do a second syringe during the evening, and by the time her final late-night snack rolled around, her appy was quite happy...no syringe necessary.

It's been a similar scenario so far today. We had a fairly typical start to our day - not too bad on her first round of breffis. But her second round, she was less enthusiastic, and since I wanted to be sure she gets enough calories before I leave, I gave her a syringe. She oddly does seem to enjoy the syringes, like she oddly seems to enjoy fluids!

So it is a rollercoaster for sure....blahs mixed in with typical Trixie behavior. Right now, she's basking by the heating vent. And, last night she did come down and snooze on my lap for a while. She was comfortably snuggled up with Zen when left. We'll just take it one moment at a time, and I will do my best to keep my anxiety check (WAY easier said than done!)

We are about to get slammed with s***. Honestly, this year I really don't care that this means we'll have to close the store. However, my Dad is supposed to have his chemo tomorrow. Now that he's on a 3 week schedule, we really cannot miss treatment this week - plus their trip to Hawaii is scheduled around this treatment going off without a hitch. So he has to call this morning to see if he can get in either today or Wednesday, because we 12"-16" on the way, it doesn't seem likely they will be able to do treatments tomorrow. I imagine it will be chaos at the chemo center. So, since I'm such an expert worrier, I have been fretting about this appointment. (ETA - I wrote this earlier but hadn't posted it yet. My Dad has since been on contact with the doc and was able to switch his treatment to Wednesday. PHEW!)

Excellent news about my Dad: his tumor markers have plummeted once again. Tumor markers aren't the greatest tool, but they do give you an idea. So far he has gone from 10,000 (pre-chemo) to 24,000 (after 2 treatments) to 5700 to 2600, and this latest one was 600!! He saw these results online, so we have yet to actually talk to the doc about them. I do believe is response is stellar and very unexpected....however, the doc won't/can't flat out say that. Since we have yet to see the doc since these results came in, I am very curious to see what he has to say.

Gotta get moving...it's going to be a crazier-than-usual couple days, thanks to this storm. Have a great day, L&LL...and, as always, thank you for all your love an support.

Morning Amy :coffee::coffee::coffee:

Sorry I keep missing your condo... I am glad trixie is feeling better. It is so nice that she likes the syringes. I never could get Mannie to accept them. How cool to that they seem to act as some sort of appy stimulant. What a plus that is. BG's look great today - I see green! :D

Stay warm with this new incoming storm. it sounds like it will be awful. What a relief that your dad was able to get his appt changed. :) Nice on those markers too!

have a great day today. I hope all goes well.

Great to hear Trixie is feeling better. I'm sorry she has been under the weather. Maybe with the storm blowing in? That is super that your dad could switch his treatment. Stay safe and warm!!

Sounds like a mixed bag with Trixie, but I saw more good than bad, so yay for that! Interesting about the syringes and her not minding them. As I consider assist feeding for Minka, I may be asking you for advice.

Hooray for your DF's tumor marker decline. Prayers continue!

Sending lots of hurry through storm vines and good appy vines and just general good vines. Hang in there, Amy! :bighug:

That's great Trixie is feeling better and your dad's tumor markers are down. I'm glad he got his appointment rescheduled. Sending prayers and hugs. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
