1/26 Hendrick AMPS 521 PMPS 439

question for anyone: what does it mean when a manufacturer says this:

"This formula has a carbohydrate content of 3.82% on an as fed basis and 16.78% on a dry matter basis"

thing is, we've been feeding Hendrick Wellness Core Hearty Cuts Shredded as his LC meal and he loves it. Eats it really well, 3 flavors we've been rotating. I remembered reading it was around 5% carbs and today was looking to confirm that again and found the above statement.

Looking at the ingredients, potato starch is in there along with some other questionable ones

Chicken, Chicken Broth, Turkey Broth, Chicken Liver, Turkey, Dried Egg Whites, Potato Starch, Carrots, Guar Gum, Natural Flavor, Cranberries, Spinach, Sodium Phosphate, Salt, Ground Flaxseed, Potassium Chloride, Salmon Oil (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Canola Oil, Choline Chloride, Inulin, Dried Kelp, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Taurine, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin E Supplement, Manganese Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Niacin Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Sodium Selenite, Biotin, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Folic Acid, Potassium Iodide, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Rosemary Extract.

might just have to ditch this stuff, damn

so far, the last evening feeding is a small snack right before wifey and I hit the hay at about 930p (+3).

At some point should I bite the bullet and get up at midnight and 2-3am to BG test so we know how low he goes overnight? Setup a RFID feeder so he can potentially have a snack if he gets too low? Not sure how we would ensure he doesnt go for that snack at like 430 am which would be no bueno as AMPS is 6-630a

At some point yes, but usually the +2 or +3 is good. Right now I don't think his nadir is low enough to bother him with a test (or to bother getting out of bed)

Most of us do use feeders, yes. We just have it rotate to an empty slot 2 hrs before PS
