The bad part of the Libre! It went down at midnight last night. Fed him some food at +7 just to be safe.

This morning we tried and tried to do a manual reading and got errors 3 times. This on the 2nd meter we have bought.
Hubby is doing the test and I hold him. I don’t know what he is doing wrong but we have yet to get a manual reading. Poor Tiger is so patient with us but I feel so sorry for him. He gets blood but errors.

we finally had to quit. I fed him and went ahead and shot. I know we shouldn’t shoot without a reading but I made a judgement call to shoot because he is always high in the morning and hopefully we can get to vet early this morning to get a reading and Libre changed. I am trying to convince hubby to learn to change it ourselves but he’s not ready yet.

I’m a nervous wreck this morning and praying Tiger doesn’t pull any shenanigans while I have no readings. Will keep giving bits of food until I do. Praying I made the right decision, I just didn’t want to do a skip…..

What handheld meter are you using and what was the error code?
I don’t remember the brands but both are recommended here by others. I will ask hubby when he gets off work.

one error was strip inserted wrong which he said it was in correct. One was need more blood within a minute, which he got and still errored. I don’t know the third , he was frustrated and I didn’t push it. I’ll also find that out.

poor Tiger got stuck about six times to get blood only to get errors. I’m sure it’s “operator error” but we need to get better at this!
I did warm the ear with a bag of rice. And it did appear he was getting enough blood. Hubby has practiced on himself and even took our meter to vet for them to show him how to do it.

At least Tiger is loving the extra food this morning!

New libre installed at vet. Ketones checked while there and were good.

Now to learn how to use the new Libre. I like it has an alarm, is smaller and constantly monitors. Now I just have to learn to use its features and get readings.

Not sure if it’s the sensor settling in or the vet trip anxiety but we are not having good numbers so far today. Hope we get back on track very soon!

It will get better. Sorry I didn’t see this earlier. Work got in the way of cat life :(
Hoping we can work out some kinks for you with the New Libre :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Is it a Relion? Just get that one... we all use it, it's flawless and the cheapest around. Walmart special!

I never had success with the Relion either it always gave me an error (not enough blood). That’s when I read someone recommended the Contour Next, which needed less blood, and that one has worked for me.
It definitely takes practice.
Also, Deb, with the Contour meter, make sure you dip the end of the strip (the tip) in the blood drop and hold it there as it sips up the blood, not the side of the tip! Try to focus on the end/tip. :)
