I fattened Mannie's dose this morning - the 549 is what did it. One would think that after dealing with this for close to three years you would be used to what equals truly crappy numbers, but you're not. What a major downer. I suspect that Mannie is still bouncing from his dive and the numbers in the 40's from the night before. ah Mannie..... I truly wonder whatever happened to my kitty who would routinely post greens blues and yellows. This one has lost his momentum, and now to figure out what to do to get it back.

Mannie on the other hand is happy content purry and majorly furry. :-D He and the civvies woke me up again this morning - one has to love Mannie whiskers tickling your nose. :cool: Breffis was consumed with much gusto: Surf and Turf is always a big hit. He missed the auto feeder again - meowing, but ignoring it. His royal highness required an escort. :lol: He slept in bed with me last night - which is always nice, and kept my feet warm. Nanners have been secured this morning - that was done even before breffis. :lol: Napping is now in progress: on the nanner pile of course, after they were rearranged into one neat tight compact pile. Normalcy in Mannieland.

Michelle, Mannie is the Come Back Kid, so I have No doubt he will come down as you wish!
Although Moonie's numbers dont go that high we have lost momentum so many times, SO--Just get back in the saddle, and go for the ride!!
I just know Mannie wont disappoint you--You are so devoted to him! And he knows it, so not to worry, extra juice will bring him down--

Wow- quit it with the scary numbers, Mannie!

Isn't it amazing how our furbabies can act like they feel just fine when all is not right? I don't get it. I'm a hypoglycemic-type bean and if my BG isn't good, I most definitely do not defend my nanners!! The kitties must be made of sterner stuff than I... Good luck with the fatter dose, I hope it brings Mannie back into safer territory. I had to increase today too, so we've got our paws crossed for both kitties.


Hey Mannie, how bout we both come down some and then we can go hunt those pigeons everyone's talking about, ok? Sounds like so much fun... bring your nanners!

Keep an eye on Mr. Mannie! If this is, in fact, a bounce, raising the dose may keep you very busy when the bounce breaks. You know the way to get the momentum back -- more juice! And I know you know this too -- sometimes you need to go up on the dose in order to come back down. Hang in there.

Violet - i so agree....scary numbers: blech! and so true on these furbabies feeling just fine - it's normal day in MannieLand as far as he is concerned. Go figure, huh.

Hi Iorwen - thanks, and :lol: on the dizzy heights. He is still cuddly though - a welcome thing when the bean is disheartened - he puts it all back into perspective.

Do you put the autofeeder next to the nanners? What would he do if you put a nanner in an empty spot and rewarded him with a nanner when its not feeding time? Would a nanner break the feeder? Would his world implode if he was missing a nanner?

Nanner Nanner - just sounds funny.

Manniekins!!! Please come down and quit stressing your fantastic mamabean who takes such great care of you. Good luck with the dosecrease...I know you will get him back to his beautiful cycles....what was it...2.75u?...that he really liked alot? Maybe this will do him.

Mannie how about we go rollerskating or something fun that kitties normally don't do? We can come here...it's so warm and sunny!

Hi Marjorie - He did well for a while on 2.75, also for a while on 3.00. this whole "mess" started on or about 12/30 when he spiked way up to the blacks and the reds, and stayed there. I never could figure out what happened to him back then. add to that the whole "thing" with the dental and the slow post op and missed shots and low stuff - just a mess for 3-4 days. He just hasn't really gotten back on track since then. I almost went up the full .25 this morning, then thought the better of it. he did have that dive onto the 40's the other night, so played it conservatively when considering that. I do keep reminding me that this new meter also reads consistently 10% higher than the old one. Guess we shall see what the F2.5 does for him.

Hi Karrie - that he is! I have thought of locating the nanners and the auto feeder in the same vicinity - then I know he might pay attention.... If I knew I could control the civvies I might do that.... the one has it all figured out. by the time Mannie decides he wants what is in the feeder she's already been there and cleaned it out. ohmygod_smile darn cat!

Hi Barb - thanks! It should be good - off to visit my DGS for a bit. and then deal with slow running drains and toilets and and and - I hope we don't have a developing problem here... :?

Gracie - that would be fun! I will come on down, pick up Tess on the way and we can go skate some. I've never done that. :shock: Rusty wants us to come visit him in his NYC digs. Sorry to hear about Mannie's adventures in the evil black and red places....Crossing my fingers that a new dose helps him get back to the greens and blues he was seeing so regularly!

Michelle: it is so weird that happened.... I remember it. You know, I was going to take Gracie up the other day because of those ridiculous bounces and I'm glad I didn't so it's good you didn't do the .25u dosecrease yet. I hope he breaks through this soon and gets back to Mannie numbers.

That sounds fun Mannie....get Tess, rollerskate by the river here on the bike path, and then go to NYC!! What a busy day!

Okay, despite Mannie's less than fantastic AMPS, this is the rockin' condo this morning. Not sure which has me giggling more... the mental picture of an autofeeder popping open to expose a nanner, or the picture of a high BG Violet laying on a nannerpile!!! :lol: :lol:

Thanks for sharing your frustrations, Michelle. It is a small comfort for us newbies to know that our frustrations are to be expected. Small comfort for you, I know, but it means a lot to us. Fingers and paws crossed that the new dose will do the trick and Mannie will be back to blues and greens in no time!

Did sumbody sez pigeons?!? I'z don't like de burds unless I'z eatin' em. But I'z totally up for hangin' out today! --Willie

Hi Marjorie - thx!, and we will see how this progresses.... perhaps all he needs is a little jump start. I keep looking for contraband that he could have found, but come up empty - there is just nothing in the house.

Morning Christie - i know, the thought of the nanners and the feeder made me laugh too. He would be so there... and the nanners? a given - always with him too. hey - maybe that's the answer: too many nanners.... :lol: :lol: and thanks for the rest. there are times I'd just like to ignore it all, but I also know and feel that these type of things, and the feelings us old-timers have, should be shared. It's all part of the sugar dance, and we all experience them.

Hi Pamela - thanks! Not a pretty day today, but at least he is, so far, clearing it. Paws crossed that we can return to more "Mannie numbers".

Michelle, sorry to hear about all the ups and downs with Mannie's numbers. I'm glad to see he is slowly coming back down today. It is so funny to think about Mannie and the automatic feeder and his slow response to it opening. Darn those civvies! I like Mannie's picture!

I'm just getting home and checking condos. I know Mannie will be be back on track soon with such a good Bean. Maybe Mannie could come visit Maggie here and we could have a beach day. Maybe he just needs a day of fun and sun, and Maggie's lonely for some furry pals. Good luck with the new dose.

Sorry about the higher numbers, not Mannie-like at all. I see he dines on many of the same flavors KB does.

Your SS is very detailed so I apologize if I missed this, or if it already asked, but by any chance is your insulin getting old?

I could have sworn I posted, but it could have been in a dream. I kept falling asleep again this morning. Good luck on the new dose. When a lot is going on and changes are made it just takes time to sort things out. Come on Mannie, you can do this dose!

Hi Nina, and thanks for the visit. :-D The insulin should be good - it was a new pen in 1/16. It's listed on the SS, but there is alot of stuff there, and it's just not readily visible, so no worries. sometimes I think the SS is too detailed. :lol: :lol:

Hi Georgia - Thanks - it's slowly coming down today - so phew! and thanks on the photo. It's one of my favs. I keep hoping he will get back on track with the feeder. He knows what it is for, just doesn't go to use it. silly boy!

Hi Kristen - so agreed! Not pretty this morning. :? I am glad it seems to be improving tonight.

Hey Ann - oh oh - there are two Ann's.... OK Ann and Tess: You are so right. It has been a rollercoaster month for Mannie - way to many variables, his dosage has been all over the place for a variety of reasons, and perhaps he just needs time. I knew last night when his +6 was up 60 points and we hadn't hit nadir yet that this morning would not be pretty. Even though I knew it, it was still such a huge downer. I think too that he needed to go up more on the dosing scale - the 2.5 did a few things, but overall it could be better. We shall see what he does with this dose. paws crossed!

Come on nanner Mannie, back where you belong. Don't you love it. If its not the insulin being taken up, down, up, its the kitties. Guess he likes keeping you on your toes. Hope he comes down and surfs nicely and you can relax.
