Not sure what is going on with my boys. Walter spent two days in the high 100s all of a sudden and just when I started considering a dosecrease, he dropped to 69 right as I had to leave for work yesterday.

His brother Mandarin started the day on the exercise wheel. The very same exercise wheel that he has eyed suspiciously for 3 years and that (at least to my knowledge) he has never set foot on. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw my chubby little boy running this morning. Let's hope that's a sign that he is feeling extra good...

Meanwhile, their bean slept through two alarms and is still barely awake even after two cups of coffee. ... and it's going to be another long day at work. I should have time to run home for lunch, but then we have to do two phone interviews right after my last class and I won't be back until +9 or so.

It's all a ploy to confuse the Beans and make sure they have our attention Christina! Boomer certainly does it on a regular basis
I hope your boys surf safely today!

How exciting that you saw Mandarin using the wheel! I'd love to see video of either of your boys taking a spin on the wheel. I bought one several years ago, but it was too late, as Maggie had entered her old lady stage. I think she would have loved it in her early years.
It's all downhill to the weekend from here. Hope the boys surf safely.

I seriously doubt that Walter has ever been on there. He only runs when he hears me open a can of food.

Flora is the one that really likes the wheel and runs on a regular basis.

That's what I have too. It's almost like a piece of art, certainly draws attention. @Bobbie And Bubba if you get one you must share video's of your training sessions! @Judy and Boomer Judy, have you seen these exercise wheels? Boomer and Allen could fight over it... ;)
They do look like a piece of art! Do you have any live coverage using the wheel? And is it hard to get them interested? Bubba is a real slug now being on house arrest.

Well, unfortunately I found this too late in Maggie's life. She had already lost a lot of her sight by then, but she did make some valiant efforts... as long as food was used as enticement to walk forward! I hear some cats, mostly the youngsters, I bet, take to it without encouragement. For others, you train them to walk forward with treats or toys, whichever motivates them the most. Some decide they enjoy it and use it by themselves, some only use it when you motivate them, and others don't care what you do, they aren't getting in that crazy contraption for your amusement!

The wheel makes a nice bed too. I've seen pictures of cats fast asleep on the track!
Mine kind of like it for that too, it will gently rock you to sleep.

And I had the easiest time with Flora since she was around it from when she was a kitten and just tried it on her own. Iris was always too sick and could hardly breathe, so she never did. My civvie Sassy also likes it and will just run on it without any encouragement, but she originally followed a toy. For Capone, it was lunch meat that did the trick (but he will only use it when there is lunch meat involved, I don't think he'll just run for the sake of running).
