Well.. today my dd finally sent a text ...
I left her alone yesterday after asking on Wednesday when we would get together.

She texted me today after noon that they would have coffee with me and DH on Monday at 7 am.

I texted her back, where? and by the way, remember how dgm wanted to take us out to eat once a week... we are going to santa fe tonite to a favorite pizza place
and I knew her answer would be no.... but they were invited too.

She texted me back.... that they would meet us there, what time?

So.... ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ...................

just another hour and we will load up in the car.

Paws crossed !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually smiled again today.

Re: 1/24 Loose Lips Rhiannon improvement coming?

That's wonderful!! So good to hear that dd is at least willing to try to meet with you and DH!

Will pray for a good dinner, with some GOOD conversation tonight!

Edited to add...remember, baby steps...don't try to solve everything in one night. We parents sometimes forget it's important for us to listen more than talk some of the time (this is from personal experience that I'm still trying to work out with my ds)

Re: 1/24 Loose Lips Rhiannon improvement coming?

dinner went well.
they bought a car... ( a lot more than they can afford but we'll see)
They have lots of newbie lessons to learn.

They were chatty and it was really just as it should have been all along before she had to make her dramatic exit with an exclamation point. !!!!!!!!!!!
I pray it stays this way.
It was almost like the last week hadn't happened.

They also have been looking at apartments... one of the one they are interested in is in a really bad neighborhood.....
hope they won't pick that one. I told her about all the shootings they used to have just 2 blocks away.
I wouldn't want to live down there.

They will get married in the next couple of weeks.

What a roller coaster life has been.....
and I can't even handle riding them any more. :? :-D

Hi Rhiannon, I'm glad the dinner went well! I guess we all have to make our own mistakes! I sure did, and I value my moms opinion now more than ever now that I am older (and hopefully wiser!). Paws crossed she doesn't choose the creepy apartment area. I'm sorry you're having a roller coaster life, I hope my hugs will help! :YMHUG:

Glad things seem to have settled down between you and your DD. As much as it pains you she's going to have to learn some life lessons on her own and no matter what you do, think or say it won't matter. Just know the day will come when she thinks to herself, "Dang, Mom was right all along!" And then you will struggle not say' "I told you so!" It WILL happen, just wait and see. In the meantime, just be there to catch her when she falls.

So glad your dinner went well. I hope your relationship continues to go well.
And yep, your DD does need to make her own mistakes and learn her own life's lessons. Like any young one, they know what is best for them....although in the long run it may not be. Just be there for her/them, give your support and love and all should be ok.

Hope they don't pick the bad apt. But there again, they will learn. My sister and her FB (now husband) used to live in a house almost right next to mine. My mom lives w/me and as all moms are, she is very opinionated and nosey....and they wanted to "get away" from her, figuring that what she doesn't see won't hurt her. My sister also has 3 children, young at the time. They decided to move to an area about a half mile away. I know it is a bad area.....lots of drugs, etc. and informed them so. They were also informed by the POLICE that the area was not a good area and that they should reconsider the move. Well....can't tell them anything so they made the move. Within two months they moved out. It was very hard not to say "I told you so", but I kept my mouth shut and helped them move....again. It happens!!

Rhiannon, I'm glad the dinner went well and your DD is sharing things with you. I hope things continue this way. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
