1/23 RICO AMPS 99, +4 98, +8 99, PMPS 105 - No symptoms of Pancreatitis

Has the vet done a fPL test to determine pancreatitis or not? It's a separate test from regular blood work. Leroy has just gotten over his pancreatitis. I initially thought it was just an IBD flare up based on symptoms (meatloafing, not really eating). His fPL test result was off the chart, 35 when normal is 0 to 4

No, he didn't. He didn't pay much attention, to be honest. He said that "all this" is "normal" due to his age - translated as "why bother? he's old" :( That's why I'm going to get a second opinion and have this test there...

It’s difficult for me to read the labs on my phone (because the current ones are so far from the label of what the test is) but two comments (if what I think I saw was correct):
1. Amylase is up. There are other fairly uncommon causes of elevated amylase but it’s not for nothing that the vet called this pancreatitis without an fpl. If not pancreatitis I’d look for other cause
2. K is dropping (probably from the insulin although i can’t find the initial post—if vomiting/anorexia/diarrhea that can contribute also); I’d keep a close eye on that because it’s already under lower limit of normal. Too low can cause loss of appetite and weakness but more importantly significant health risk

one more comment: Hct is mildly up—could be dehydration could be other causes. If it continues to increase it is going to make BG appear lower than it really is on a meter. At what point I can’t say and it may be exacerbated by the fact you use a human meter. I can’t say to what degree.

edit: ALT also up. In the species i treat this can be pointing to pancreatitis esp assoc with gallstones. No idea if same in cats. I’ll try to review labs more once daylight and coffee—good luck with your second opinion
