Today is our first day. I gave shot at 7AM. 1.5U as people here suggested. Will post back in this thread through the day as I check every 3 hours.
It took my extra time to carefully withdraw insulin. Took 2 times with 2 syringes to get 1.5U exact. I was so glad video talked of twisting the plunger slowly to get exact dose. First one I pushed and got too much too fast. It looked like one on TV show that they show squirting out. Also I'm glad I learned not to reuse syringes. With Prozinc I was.
Now to get him on a good feeding schedule to test.
Thanks again for your help and encouragement. Hope I posted title right

Purrfect!
Reminder: Levemir binds to protein in the body, then is released to work. Some is still bound by the next shot, resulting in some overlapping effect between doses. This overlap is called the depot, or shed.
Because of this overlap, it can take 5 to 7 days on the initial dose for the effects to stabilize.
Also, Levemir has a later onset than ProZinc, so any low could be as late as the next pre-shot. That, too, will become more apparant as the days pass and the depot stabilizes.
Good luck!

Like bJ said, Levemir has a later onset than ProZinc, so don't be surprised if you see lower than usual numbers at your AMPS and PMPS. With Lev, you'll have to learn how to shoot low numbers that you might not be comfortable with at first. Cobb tended to nadir around AMPS and PMPS, so often we were shooting much lower than we had been on other insulins.

Also, give you're switching insulins and building a depot, you may see higher than normal numbers for the next few days until the depot is full. Don't worry. That's normal!

+3 372
Know since new and first day on new type that's expected. Will update later with +6.
Thanks BJM and Suzanne

I see yellow on the spreadsheet. :) Looks like Milo's onset might be around the typical +4 time frame on Lev. "Typical" nadir is around +8 to +9, but my cat is seldom typical on Levemir.

Welcome to LLL ! It takes some adjustment to get used to looking at the nadir for dose and how late the nadir can be on Lev. But don't count on it always being at one time, it can shift around, we are dealing w/ CATS, remember!;)

I was actually impressed that at +10 he dropped more.
Should I try and get some numbers tonight. I can do a +3 and probably a +5 or 6 since that's another 12-1AM here. Are more necessary at night since we are ne was.

Looking good there Milo! Remember the effects will build a little more each day.
Thanks for keeping me informed. He did go up for PMPS, but know it's going to take a few days to settle in.
My only complaint is the tiny half unit marks on the syringes. I need to make sure my glasses are near!

A lot of us use those cheap reading glasses you can buy for a few bucks that "magnify" print for people who can't read small print

Some of us even put one pair on top of another to get twice the magnification!

Carson Clip and Flip magnifiers attach to your glasses and are wonderful in reading those little tiny marks!
