Playing in the water again today. Shot this morning was much easier to administer. I gave Max his very favorite-est treat, freeze dried shrimp, on top of his food. He eats while I shoot and he didn't twitch. Ha!

Yay and nice number too!

I tried freeze dried shrimp, eel and bohita chips (freeze dried tuna flakes), all from a Chinese grocery, because I couldn't find them anywhere else and he refused them all. I tried Pure Bites salmon, chicken, which I knew was a waste, he hates chicken and won't eat it, and liver. The liver worked! I went from PureBites to Simply Nourish at PetSmart, for much less money. Got the dog size bag, 5 oz for $8. Just broke the pieces smaller. After a few months, that lost it's appeal. He still gets a treat of cooked turkey meat or tuna occasionally, but not at every test or shot, it's not necessary anymore to keep him occupied. He really doesn't care at this point, he's been thru a lot in the last year. It sure makes it easier on me. :thumbup

Re: 1/23 Max AMPS 190

What your dealingw with on shooting is exactly why Autumn and before her Musette got switched to Levemir. With both girls testing was a breeze but shooting was a living nightmare. At least Musette was tiny enough to strong arm. Autumn however was just plain dangerous. She'd snarl, slap and bite than charge the other cats. She was wound tight and high strung about an hour after shooting. Switched her to Levemir she became a different cat overnight. She got cuddly and snuggly. The change was dramatic..Right before I switched her I accidentally got myself with the needle right after shooting her and that tiny drop burned like crazy so I figured she was sensitive to the sting.

Good to know about the Lantus. I never thought that it could have a reaction like that. I try to tell Max it only hurts more when he moves. I've got 5 pens of it, but if I ever make it through all that, I may take a look at Levemir. PMPS is the lowest I've ever shot the full dose. I just felt like I already know what he does on .4u, and it's not quite enough, so I went ahead with the normal dose and then watched him closely and threw in some extra spot checks. Fingers crossed I don't end up with a bounce for the AMPS.
