Hi LL,

Just wanted to follow up today after Kismet's carb binge yesterday. He had an excellent check-up today with the vet... No fever, no infections, all systems functioning well. She ran a fructosamine test which showed that he has not had diabetic levels for any extended period of time, so she told us just to test him over the next few days to make sure he stays within normal ranges. I tested him an hour after tonight and we are back in the green with a beautiful 79.

Thank you all for your support yesterday! This is the absolute best news we could have received. I just need to be VERY careful about keeping all kibble out of the house. It never occurred to me that he might get into the free sample of the dog food, so this was a real lesson. Kismet has always been a junk food junkie. He once got on the kitchen counter and ate through an unopened bag of Cheetoes. He also helped himself to a wrapped brownie, once. (Both instances before he was diagnosed!) We are very careful about keeping all human fuds locked up, but I realize now that I need to be hyper-aware. What a scare he gave us yesterday!

Upon getting the high bg reading yesterday morning, my first instinct was to turn here... before phoning the vet, even! FDMB, you are a godsend, and I still marvel at what an incredible support system and community you all have created here. Thank you, thank you, all. It's so wonderful to know that you guys are always here. Have a great night and healing vines to all who need them!

A greatly relieved and thankful Courtney and Kismet.

Hi Courtney,
Thank you for visiting my condo. I recently just came back too. Boot's wasn't OTJ, but,
very close. So when her BS's starting going through the roof, I too had to run back to my
kitty family
