Good Morning, Everyone,
Well, no one got much sleep last night: we had a very hungry and confused kitty to try to comfort. Rusty, who is a grazer, had nothing to graze on. Fortunately he ate almost all of his dinner by 8 p.m. last evening. Then he hosted the film group and paid two of our friends the greatest compliment by sitting on their laps. Then it was bedtime and he couldn't believe that there was no food set out for him. He came to bed and immediately hacked up a hairball (he'd been grooming himself all evening).
This morning there was more disbelief at the absence of breakfast!
We dropped Rusty and his breakfast off at the vet at 8 a.m. (+1.5) after giving him a reduced dose, about half of his normal dose. He will have a full blood panel and the special test for bile acid (which required the 12-hour fast). After they draw blood, he gets to eat breakfast. Then, two hours later, he has blood drawn again. So the bile acid before eating is compared with what it is after eating. They will keep him there for a few hours and we will have a consult with the vet when we go to pick him up.
Good thoughts and vines for the LagoonMeister are much appreciated!
