Guess I'll try to get down to the Vet's and get the PZI in a couple hrs. Still don't know about school tonight. With a high of 32 today, everything that's wet will freeze after sundown. Class doesn't get out until 9pm.

Re: 1/22 Lucian AMPS 379

Good luck today! Livin' where it snows, I hate driving in the bad weather. I've got all wheel drive on my car, which really helps in the snow, but icy is icy and any car can slide on it.

Re: 1/22 Lucian AMPS 379

Our high is 29 today. And only the major roads are cleared, secondary -> maybe tomorrow. With a low of 13 tonight, everything the sun thawed, will freeze back over. Since I have an old, rear wheel drive, truck, my a$$ is staying home. Lucian can survive another day or 2 and I'll just have to take that class at another time.

I do NOT drive on bad roads for ANY reason. The only thing that would make me risk it, would be a life or death situation with my son. Other than that, not gonna happen.

I hear you there ours is front wheel drive but still this girl stays parked unless there is blood or fire on bad days. Our high for day is 34 but we have winds coming up and tonight a wind chill warning goes into effect because wind chill is suppose to be 20+below. Luckily we're dry.

Wind was bad here this morning, low teens windchill, or so they say, I didn't go out to check! Those 'below' numbers would scare me, time I'd move back to FL. I would never live anywhere that has that kind of weather, this is the worst I'll tolerate and we rarely get this cold, maybe once a year and only get a light snow, trace-3 inches, once or twice a year. Winters here are not severe, so I CAN refuse to go anywhere when it's like this. ;-) It doesn't last long, supposed to be 40's Friday. Ice is always an issue here, at one point, about 10-12 years ago, I lost power for 9 days due to an ice storm. Just luckily, I had bought a kerosene heater for use in emergencies just like that, so we didn't freeze, considering I was total electric. Cooked outside, on a gas grill. Of course I wasn't in an apartment then.

I decided to shoot for tomorrow to run to the vet's, all secondary roads for me. If the ice is persistent, I'll wait another day.

Re: 1/22 Lucian AMPS 379

I spent several years in Charlotte and LOVED it swore I would never come back to this frozen wasteland but mom's health was declining so came back and glad I did because not only did I get to spend quality time with her, I also reconnected with my first love and married him. But if it wasn't for his family ties here and the fact that moving with 17 critters isn't all that easy long distances I'd be a blue streak headed south as fast as I could get there. I hate winter

I hear ya, I can handle NC, prefer the mountains of NC or TN. They do have the ability to take care of the roads better than here in the Raleigh area. Here, they think as long as the interstates are clear, we're good! WRONG! When we had the almost 3 feet of snow, back about 10 yrs ago, living outside of a small town, 40 miles east of Raleigh, it was 5 days before the plow came thru. Of course I wasn't prepared, they had only called for 4 inches! By the time the plow came thru, I was out of everything! They called it our 100 year blizzard. I swear I want to be a weather girl, keep your job no matter how wrong you are! Don't know how 4 in became 3 ft.

I hear ya. My welcome home present from Nebraska was on the first day of Spring, just moved into my apartment they forecast a dusting and I woke up to 32inches!! That is some dusting and of course I didn't even have a snow shovel yet heck I hadn't even unpack my dishes yet let alone thought about digging out of a blizzard.

Re: 1/22 Lucian AMPS 379

So what IS the deal with meteorologists 'guessing' anyway? Hell, I could do that!

The city caught hell over that, they had done nothing to the highways, etc and people were stranded in their cars on the interstate for up to 12 hrs, kids had to stay the night in their schools, etc. It was a mess! Since then, they run out and hit all the interstates before anything happens, but leave the rest of us stranded that don't live in the city. Thankfully, we didn't lose power in the blizzard, that happens every time with the ice storm and we get those every 2-3 years, some areas worse than others. Only lost power here at the apts once for ice, only for 2 days. But I'm on the 3rd floor and had to walk my 15 yo golden up and down the stairs. It was harder on him than me. We had to rest at every landing, which was hard cause he had to pee! I miss my boy! If I ever get out of here and in a place of my own, I'll get another dog, I miss having a drooler.

OH! I think it would be a good idea to run a curve before I start the PZI, what say you? Of course that only tells you what he's doing on Lev. ohmygod_smile
