Here we go again :)

Happy Tuesday everyone in L&L Land.

Luci was really feeling her oats yesterday - flipping her toy mice high into the air and running around acting crazy. All this lagoon surfing recently must be starting to feel like her new normal. Now if we could just avoid those yellow/pink bookends we'll be on the road to getting better (I don't even want to say what I'm thinking as she's reading over my shoulder)...

Sending thoughts and prayers to all kitties in need.:bighug::bighug:

Definitely one of my absolute favorite things to see! It just makes them seem so youthful! The only downside with playing like that is they seem to lose their toys in random places and then the game is over, haha. It's fun to try to find them though. Come on out of there Miss Luci! Time to play at the lagoon!

@Bobbie And Bubba @Wendy&Neko - Luci is down to 57 - at least she's not been 'diving' this morning - I've only give her (see SS) LC / FD / LC - (FD = freeze dried treats) .... am I taking a risk not feeding her MC at this point? Is THIS her nadir? It's about the right time of day - but that low a number - making me nervous! I'll be getting another test in 30 minutes. Thank you!

Glad you did just LC and Luci surfed on. Neko would often surf the 50’s with nothing more than freeze dried treats.

To follow up yesterday’s thread, I guess I wasn’t clear enough. I agreed that you could use MC early in the cycle, if you need to use it to slow the drops, just try to stay away from it later. Typically you need less carbs the later in the cycle. I also suggested that you want to try to figure out when she starts her drops, and get a bit of food in just before then, so she has fresh carbs in board when she starts to drop. Try testing at +1.5 and see if she’s onsetting and dropping earlier than +2. Try to avoid those 100 point per hour drops. Another thing to note, that as Luci spends more time in nice numbers, you might have to tweak what you were doing when she was more bouncy. With Neko, I found she originally needed HC for low numbers, but as time went on I could mostly give MC. ECID of course.

I love how Luci has DH trained to retrieve her toys. The space under my stove used to be much cleaner when I was always retrieving the civvies toys out from under. :p

Beautiful cycle today! And good job not getting freaked with the 57 1/2 way through the cycle. Where the lower number is would determine if I would give MC or not. If it came in the beginning of the cycle, I would give a bit to slow down the cycle and then might supplement with LC from then on. It is all an experiment as to what works for Luci.

I had a cat, Cecil, who was the retriever. If we threw a dry sponge, a pencil, or a ball, he would go and get it and bring it back. We usually tired out before Cecil did. :)

MC early in the cycle

I appreciate the clarification - a little MC early in the cycle might be just the ticket to keep her from going too low...I test frequently when she's doing one of her famous dives - and hope not to see another cliff dive...

I'm hoping to get the hang of it...You'd think after a year I'd have a better feel for her - my intention this last year has always been on 'saving' her - from the sharks! And now it does appear my thinking is going to need some 'adjustments' - not to panic when she's sliding down...and working to discern the difference between a gentle slide and a swan dive - my 'benchmark' for giving MC was always 100 points or more = give some MC - stop the drop...however I can try to get some tests earlier on - and try to steer her then...mornings are busy - but I'll do my best!

Thank you again!

And good job not getting freaked with the 57 1/2 way through the cycle.
Thanks so much for that! I was indeed frazzled from watching the clock ... nervous that she'd go under 50...so she did behave herself today and surfed nicely...and turned around just in time...let's hope she'll do that tonight! Did you see that PMPS! I've got the timer set already for a 1+....don't want her getting to friendly with the sharks tonight!

@Bobbie And Bubba / @Wendy&Neko So...here it is 1+ in the PM cycle and she's down 35 points - and we're just getting started! So is it at this point I should give her a tiny drop or two of MC food? She just got a little tab of LC - like a teaspoonful...don't want to overfeed her...but she was glaring at me - wanted to eat and that freeze dried treat wasn't doing it..

I love seeing that sea of green in Lucy's ss! Pretty soon, those pinks will be completely gone, followed by her pretty yellow dresses.
Hello Blue/Green Luci! Surf safely Luci!

+1 75. I'm not one of the experts, but I'd probably try the MC to slow her down.

Sorry, I am just now seeing this. With a 35 point drop at +1, I would give LC not MC. My rule of thumb is if it's anything over a 50 point drop, and still in nice safe numbers, I would do the LC. Good job!

PS, keep manipulating the curve with doling out tsp of LC food unless you see her take a huge dive into shark infested waters.

ETA: then bring out higher carb food.
I guess I lost my nerve - gave her a teaspoon of MC at 1+...and now at 54; gave her Tablespoon of LC and a tsp of MC. Trying to get DH to measure food will be a challenge - I'll stay up for one more test (30 minutes)...but will have to go to bed and leave him in charge....let's hope I didn't give too much already and messed everything up...will check/post before I go to bed. Thanks!

If she is at 54 right now, then your MC was a good call! What + number are you on right now?

This is where I differ, I agree with you on the MC on such a drop so early in the cycle. When one cycles starts so much lower than the previous, that was my hint to test early and often. You don’t have much room to go with that 54 so early in the cycle. Ideally you would love her to keep surfing safe green. Keep tapping the brakes.

Surfs up Luci!

Slow it down Luci! Be a surfer girl!

53 at 2.5+ SS updated Fed LC + tsp MC. Can't afford another drop.
I'm going to bed. DH in charge. 5 a.m. come early here...
Thank you for your help/guidance today/tonight.

Experimenting is the only way to know. Bubba can be steered up with raw meat by 20 points.......

Tonight was all good data for the future.

Luci took DH for a ride - chasing the sharks - getting a reducie this morning - I'm not sure I could have held her above 50 at the rate she was going. I knew we were playing with fire by going easy on the food .... but like you say, experimenting is the only way to know. Let's see if she continues to respond by visiting the lagoon with 1 unit.
