Just got back from Sam's 1 month check-up after his DKA incident and the vet was just amazed at how well he's doing and how good he looks. The best part is that he's no longer anemic and no longer showing signs of kidney failure. ALL his values are now in normal ranges! The vet and I were both really happy about this. She's just thrilled with the work I've been doing and loved getting a copy of the SS. She does think I should bump up his dose a bit as she feels strongly that his numbers could definitely get better. I told her I'd like to keep it at .5 a few more days, then make a judgment and she was fine with that. She also didn't blink an eye when I told her I'd converted to the u100 syringes.

I should add that this is not the vet that told me to do scheduled feedings, that was a different vet at the same clinic who I saw when this one wasn't available. This vet is fine with the way we're feeding and loved that he had gained some weight back.

All in all, a great day. She wants me to continue the sub-q fluids but drop to every other day and then we'll recheck in 6 weeks to make sure none of his kidney values have changed.
