Good Friday Morning, Everyone,

We are still in the Adirondacks, having decided to postpone our departure to NYC until tomorrow morning to avoid the bad driving conditions to our south. So today is a gift: more time to get ready and, more importantly, to do stuff we would have had to do when we return (such as go to the landfill!).
Rusty had a good night sleeping with us. Woke me up with his face in mine about 1/2 hour early (he had eaten all of his nighttime food). Good test this morning (1st try) and good shot. The second sitting of breakfast has just been eaten (after a good play with Big Bug and Red Ears) and Rusty is on his perch. Snow is falling.
We are in for some really cold weather starting tonight, when it is supposed to go down to -20 F. here. We're packing sleeping bags as "insurance" against getting stranded on the roads. Also the usual "emergency" kit: rescue blanket; candle & matches; hand warmers; energy food; water; thermos of cocoa; flashlights; etc. One has to be extra careful up here because cell phones don't work in many places. Rusty will have his fleece blanket (he sits on this in the car) and food & water will be offered during the rest stops. The trip will be about 6 hours.

Glad you guys are getting so prepared. Very smart.

The numbers are coming down. Bet they'll get even better with the good shot this morning.

You'll have to take more traveling Rusty pics when you are on the road :)

Morning! It has already stopped here & the sun is out--3" not bad..Glad you are coming tomorrow instead, at least the roads will be plowed..

Nice report for Rusty...as usual! :mrgreen: Glad you are putting off the drive until tomorrow...
Your plan of bringing stuff in case you get stuck on the road is just what I would do! It's in my mind that IF I am prepared for the worst, it won't happen. It's when you don't prepare that you get in trouble!
So, may the safe trip Gods be with you on your journey.

Hi Ella. Oh yeah, on the safety kit. It's a good excuse to keep goodies in the car too. :-D
Down south of Buffalo, here, it has finally stopped snowing, and the sun comes out for a while, but bad blowing and drifting. I can't tell where my driveway ends. No plow yet today. *sigh*
I too am glad you're postponing your trip to the city. I've been wondering about the condition of the roads up there in the mountains. With the Adirondacks being so popular, I'm assuming the roads are plowed?
Rusty must be happy just to be with you and DH, even if it's riding in the car.

Morning! Good decision on the postponement. I am elated to read how ell prepared you are. So many drivers and travelers are not. Kudos to you! And nice that Rusty has his own supplies - such a seasoned veteran traveler. Stay warm, stay safe.

Hi again, Everyone,
Thanks for the good travel wishes. I hope the roads won't be too icy here in the mountains tomorrow morning (it's supposed to go down to -10 tonight and there is a lot a water on the roads from the salt melt; but in general they do a good job on the roads here and I'm sure the sanders will be out spreading sand). We are pretty much organized. Rusty was a little anxious today when we were getting stuff together, but I think I convinced him that we're all going to NY together and that we'll all be coming home together in a few days. He has good numbers today and we have had some spectacular play sessions.

I didn't get to very many condos today, but I thought about you all. I'm bringing my I-Pad so will be able to update periodically. Back home on Tuesday, weather permitting!

Is this Rusty's first trip to the big apple? Oh what excitement he is going to find! :mrgreen:

Sounds like our -20's are getting sent your way. Really, once you get to about -5, its just cold. -30, -10...no difference to me!

If you have any extra down, that might be nice for the car ride with Rusty. Lay his blanket on top of it so it doesnt get punctured, maybe? Latte LOVED laying on all my down jackets in the winter (until she started peeing on them.... :? ). Duchess found great warmth/comfort from them when our electricity and heat were out for a few days earlier in the winter. Other than that, sounds like you are set.

Hey Kitties, YES! Party tomorrow night in The Big Apple (that's what they call it). I'll be there. My beans are taking me, but the rest of you can come on our bus, or on the Green Express Train. See you then!
