Good day everyone.

Does anyone here use the Accu Chek meter? My insurance Co. is going to provide me with that one rather than the FS and I just wondered if anyone here is using it and how you like it. I know it gets great reviews and is, I believe, one of the meters they used in the Queensland studies. I am not sure how well it will work for Morgaine since it requires more blood than the Relion but we shall see. I am certainly pleased that I am going to be able to get a different meter for my own needs.

Morgaine was steady in the mid blues all night and awoke with a nice AMPS of 121. We had a wonderful cuddle in the bed last night and she purred for about 30 minutes after it ended. She was still purring while she ate but I think the fuds distracted her from the purrs and that took over. very funny. I think she knows her mamabean had something done and is not up to full steam yet so she wanted to show her appreciation.

Thanks again for the well wishes. I am really doing very well, just a little tired but I think it takes a few days for all of the meds they put into you to clear the system.

Hi Rosalie:

I'm sure some folks use the AccuChek but I'm not sure who. Maybe Patty used to but switched due to the cost...not the meter itself.

Glad you are feeling better!! Is it working to take Morgaine to the potty before bed as Dr. W suggested? I hope so. Glad you all got some cuddles in!!

Hi Rosalie

I've used it with Curry. I had been using and still do for the most part the contour meter which had
Consumer Reports highest ranking until this year. Then I tried the Accu check aviva and compared it. It seemed to be more consistent. I don't need to use it as much now since Curry is off the juice and the strips are a little more expensive. But I really liked the Aviva. I felt I could count on its acurracy and consistency.

Accuchek Aviva was my main meter with Lucy. I loved it. We used to suggest it all the time to newbies who had trouble testing because it sucks the blood up so easily and quickly. You don't have to make the cat hold still for very long. When Lucy was on the juice, that was the meter almost everyone in LL used. Only reason I started using the ReliOn more once I got Jazzy was that I have a tendency to not plan ahead enough to order strips online, and Aviva strips cost a lot to buy locally.

Morgaine looks good today. I'm glad you guys are getting in some cuddle time. I'm glad you're doing OK, but take it easy until you're back 100%.

Thanks for the info on the Accu Chek. Looks like my insurance is going to cover it all for me at $0 co-pay. I am not sure I will use it on Morgaine but will give it a try. My understanding is that it is an excellent meter and you have confirmed that for me. After the procedure I just had done, they don't want to mess with me about accuracy of my BG meter, especially since i documented everything and I ended up with a blocked iliac artery that was not blocked before I began to use the FS. IOW, without accuracy of hyper. numbers, it is possible that all of that contributed to this complication. All is well so i am pleased.

Marje, Morgaine is not yet allowed to sleep with me. I just can't guarantee that she won't come into the bed in the AM and pee on me because she didn't empty her bladder first. So, after I know she has pee'd, we go into the bedroom and get some cuddles in. It's not the peeing that bothers me but the difficulty I have in getting it all cleaned up, especially now. I so would love to let her sleep with me again. She only gets in the bed when i am in it so I leave the door open all day and she can go in there all day since the bed doesn't really interest her without mama in it. Morgaine has always preferred the floor.

Morgaine, what a great cycle today!Rosalie, I'm glad your recovery is going smoothly. It does take a while to recover and heal and clear out the drugs. That's nice that you have figured out a way to safely cuddle on the bed. Have a nice evening.

hi rosalie - i missed that you had some medical thingies done. i'll go back on your condos and see what. hope you're back to yourself soon!

just wanted to tell you that i finally went and got another meter today - the FS lite said 258 at pmps, the relion confirm said 400. :sad: not unexpected, but i hoped otherwise. oh well, we plod on, right?!
