So the past 2 days have been very upsetting. Jack is back to pink and yellow instead of blue and yellow. Yesterday i thought he was bouncing from the lower numbers, but this morning wasn't a good start either. He refuses to eat any pate in the morning if I don't bribe him with his kibble mix. I just don't have any good ideas left for him...and it's really depressing.
In other depressing news, Abby was supposed to be getting her dental this coming Tuesday. But, the vet called late in the afternoon Friday to say her bloodwork, ecg, and blood pressure all indicate heart issues and the vet does not want to do the dental w/anesthesia at this time. So, we are doing an echocardiogram on Tuesday morning to confirm if there is a heart problem, and of so, what. I'm a nervous, emotional wreck. If they don't find a specific issue, there is still a huge risk with her dental. If she can't have anesthesia, the only other way to manage her teeth infection is antibiotics and steroids, with topical meds for her recurrent ear infection caused by her teeth. The problem with that is she hates leaving the house and it is impossible to catch and medicate her (she's still living in the bathroom where she is miserable so I don't have to chase her through the house on Tuesday and so I could finish the ear meds) I feel like we're
-ed no matter what I do. She's such a special cat, my heart is breaking from not being able to figure out the best thing to do for her. I am extremely mindful of her quality of life but I don't want to shortchange her any time. And I am extremely mindful of who my animals spend the last of their time here with, and under what circumstances.
Plus, my mom's cat needs to go back to Brooklyn on Thursday and I'm worried about that trip and how she is recovering at the clinic where she currently is. It's very hard to get any information from these idiot technicians, and it took 3 days to get them to do the ear cytology and start meds. Long story short, she got the claro-otic dog meds that Abby had a while back because she needs to be medicated for at least 3 -4 weeks to clear up the infection, and mom isn't capable of topical meds, and I literally have no space for her in my house to do it for her.
The weather here is awful, totally frigid, and I'm seeing kitty paw prints in the snow in my driveway and I'm really trying not to pay any attention because I have no way to help this poor creature.
Tagging @Diane Tyler's Mom since she asked for a cat update. I hope everyone's kitties are doing ok. I pray for all of them, and all of you, every day.
