Well, I didn't post this morning because I had a fairly rough day, but Gen seemed fine! Then when I went to feed him his PM meal, I found he'd left an unusual amount of his AM food ... not by a lot, but still.

I was getting ready for bed and realized that his BG was diving ... it's practically a perfect diagonal "\" from PMPS on. I tried to get him to eat some more (he'd only had a little of his PM food so far), putting freeze-dried tuna on top of his wet food, but he wouldn't touch it. Remembering what @Wendy&Neko said about the psyllium husk last week (thinking maybe he hadn't eaten most of his AM food on Thursday because the psyllium wasn't agreeing with him), I swapped out some of his wet food (which did have a little psyllium in it) for food without, but he still wouldn't touch it. I tried adding freeze-dried rabbit - still not having it. I got him to eat a Churu (from a dish - he won't eat out of my hand), but that was all he would take. And then the Libre alarm started going off.

I kept encouraging him to eat, but he wouldn't, and he was getting freaked out and avoiding his whole feeding station. Finally, I put a small handful of kibble on his wet food, and then he ate happily (some wet food as well) until the kibble was gone. I've gotten him to eat a bit more the same way, but he's still hanging out in the mid-50s according to the Libre and I don't understand why he suddenly won't eat his wet food! (Also I really need to sleep, work is going to kick my butt tomorrow if I don't.)

I got him to eat part of a Churu from a dish. I left the rest out ... it was my last one. I left the dishes of wet food out (that he at a little of with dry food), and a little more dry food, and some freeze-dried tuna.

I also tried applying mirataz, which I've never done before but had on hand "just in case." I know that doesn't work instantly, but thought maybe it would help. I'm not sure if I got the full dose on - he was very resistant, and I had to wrap my finger in plastic wrap because I was unaware that I was supposed to have gloves and there are none in the house.

The Libre currently says 57, and it says he was down to 40 about 30 minutes ago. Of course, I know Libres tend to exaggerate lows, but attempting a blood test (with his adverse reactions) does not seem like a great idea.

I'm so confused by this sudden refusal/inability to eat. He has no other new symptoms; he had normal bowel movements today, ate most of his AM meal (which he was very demanding about this morning), and shows no sign of a pain grimace.

The first few times I tried to feed him different things, he came following after me like he was ready to eat, but then he sniffed it and stood there for a minute, and walked away.

It's back down to 54. He's still not eating; he wants to snooze at the end of the bed, which would be normal for this time of night, but!

I have Cerenia, but with him being so unwilling to eat, I wasn't sure what to do. Well, after multiple failed attempts, I think I actually managed to pill him? (At least, this time I didn't see him spit it out, although I also wasn't sure he swallowed.) He's very upset and hiding under a chair now - he hated that.

Also, not long ago he had the softest poop I've ever seen from him - I wouldn't quite call it diarrhea, but close. So you guys are right - clearly something has upset his system. :/

The Libre says 72 right now, but it's corrected downwards at least once tonight, so I don't know.

I guess I'm going to have to call out of work tomorrow and try to get my vet on the phone. She's been so overbooked lately, it's been hard to get ahold of her, but argh.

Sniffing food and walking away can be a sign of nausea. There are some other ideas here to encourage him to eat. Suggestions on How to Stimulate Kitty's Appetite
I've tried most of the things on there that I have access to (can't really acquire additional supplies at 3AM). Well, except the oregano. Maybe I'll give that a shot in a bit.

You can also try a little food on a spoon or on your finger, and then see if that gets him to eat a little at a time.
He's never been willing to take treats out of my hand ... I tried just in case, but that didn't work. Haven't tried a spoon yet but am dubious.

Oh, thank goodness - his BG is definitely going up. I think I can finally try to sleep.

I just emailed my boss that I won't be in tomorrow. My vet's office doesn't open until 11AM on Thursdays, which is frustrating, but I guess I can stand to sleep in a little. I don't think he's getting a shot in the morning, whatever his numbers are, unless he suddenly regains his appetite. I left quite a little buffet out for him if he does.

Dental surgery is just eleven days away ...

I’m sorry to see he’s not feeling well 😩
When you pill him, don’t forget to follow the pill with some water, directed toward the side of his mouth, never directly to thy back of the throat.
Perhaps that will help?
You can also put Cerenia (or any pill) in a tiny gel capsule. I also roll the pill or capsule on a little butter, it makes it slide down easier.
And you can gently stroke their throat to make them swallow.
I hope he’s eating and feeling much better today 💝💝🍀🍃🍀🍃🍀🍃

Thank you for the tips, Staci. ❤️ I did actually have the pill in a chicken-flavored gel capsule, but unfortunately I couldn't get it down him at all. I'll try it again another time. In the meantime, the throat-stroking was a huge help in particular!
