Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty had a good night sleeping between his beans. This morning he is grazing on his breakfast and we have had our schmooze, our combing, and at the moment Rusty is lounging on top of the radiator. It was -5 degrees here earlier and has since climbed to +9. We had some icy snow yesterday and the landscape looks like a fairyland.

Everyone enjoy today,

Ella & Rusty

Yo Kitties, We have beautiful snow and sunshine. All are invited to my house to sit on the radiators, drink hot tuna toddies, and plan the activities for next week, when we will be in NYC.

It sounds like a good morning for Rusty. I hope he visits the lagoon today.

I'll be right there. Sounds like fun.

Ooooooooo, pictures please! Radiators are the perfect to look at all that snow, Rusty!

On my way, maybe you can pull hard on the ropes so i can sits on the radiators too! -- Tess

Sounds like Rusty is enjoying the view today, sounds pretty.

On my way, gotta bring a fleece, sounds cold today. Get those toddies ready. ~Neko

Rusty, you are the bestest event planner.

Got my mittens and my long furs and some boots, too. Be there soon. Ahhhhh, I so wish I had a radiator at home. ... Polly

I's comin', too! Hot tuna toddies sound yummy, but what is snow? - Cinco

Oooh, I love fresh snow. I just live in the wrong place, darn it! I hope you have a good day, snug at home with the kitty!

Oh phooey, I had to miss the fun cuz I was stuck at the vet today  Tigr

Beautiful cycle for Rusty- Ella, I would like to see pictures of your winter wonderland as well!

Hi again, the LagoonMeister is up on shore. I think he's a little under the weather. His appetite hasn't been good today, and this afternoon, while I was out, Edward said he vomited about a tablespoon of what looked like brown liquid (probably the watered-down Wellness Core turkey and duck he had for lunch, even though he didn't eat much of it). He's sleeping in his little bed by the radiator at present. We'll see how much of his dinner he will eat (Wellness Chicken tonight). He usually doesn't begin to eat his dinner until +3 or so (9 p.m.) and stretches it out over 2 hours while sitting with us on the couch, watching TV (tonight will be the State of the Union address).

Stay tuned!! Everyone have a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

Hi Ella :):coffee:

Have a great evening Ella!

Hi Ella

I saw your post asking about GGT. Gracie has had on again/off again elevations in her ALT and only once was her GGT elevated. The typical liver enzymes on a lab are ALT, AST, alkaline phosphatase, GGT, and total biliruben. The GGT at can be elevated if bile is not moving freely from the gall bladder. When her ALT was elevated once, but not anything else, we had a bile acid assay done. It tells you whether there is a physical obstruction in the bile duct so that bile is not getting through to the liver. It involves a fasting blood test, then you feed them a large meal, wait a couple hours, and have another blood draw. I took Gracie to the vet realy early before her shot for the first draw, ran home and did t/f/s about 30-45 minutes late and then they did the second test later after she'd eaten. Her tests came back totally normal.

Just to be on the safe side, the specialist put Gracie on ursodiol. It is a natural bile acid and promotes movement of bile. I had it compounded with absolutely no sweeteners, even maltodextrin. She thought it was a great treat.

I had Gracie ultrasounded several times and last summer when her numbers were higher than they'd ever been, there appeared to be a bit of liver inflammation and dilation in the bile duct which remedied with clavamox and water soluble liquid vitamin E. Her numbers came back down to normal. She's been off the ursodiol for several months now since her numbers came down but she's still on the vitamin e.

I hope that gives you some info. i think it would be a good idea to have the bile acid assay test done especially if he vomits occasionally.

@Marje and Gracie : THANK YOU MARJE!! We will make an appointment for the first week of Feb., after we get back from NYC. This is so helpful! In the meantime I will talk with the vet.

Rusty is feeling normal tonight and ate all his dinner and is now starting in on his bedtime food. The upchuck was a surprise, since Rusty hardly ever vomits.

Wishing everyone a good night.
