Yesterday's numbers remained at a high, stagnant curve that usually happens whenever I do a dose increase on him. Today's numbers already look better. So glad I only increased him to a fat 1.5u instead of 1.75!

Such a surprise when I saw that he is just a little kitten! Hope he is doing well settling in with Mr. Rockafella :-D and that you all have a great evening.

Having a kitten diabetic with no underlying problems is a trial in itself because that means he's most likely a Type 1 with no chance of remission. With him being so young, that's another +20 years of this journey for me. On the other hand, this does make treating him a little easier because I don't have to worry about a lot of the other complications that come from age and/or a prolonged dry food diet.

The first couple of months were a bit rocky before I caught on to weighing him daily and averaging that weight across the week to account for weight fluctuations affecting the dosage level. This helped me spot trends in dose increases as well as be alert to potential hypos on the days where his weight fluctuated less than usual. Recently, after having problems with failed dose increases, I figured out how to use his weight to gauge whether to give him a .25 increase straight off or just fatten it for a bit. If he's not gained too much weight, fattening it usually works till he puts on a bit more weight and is able to sustain a full .25u increase. Now that his growing has slowed down a bit, it's gotten much smoother.

Since I've only ever seen him ONCE over 400, I tested him again....a few more times.

I also tested him with the Micro and got 368.

The Prime does not do high numbers well. :-x

Maybe... But never say never, you are charting new waters here. Or maybe he will settle into nice numbers once he stops growing... We will see!

No it does not. It doesn't do well on anything but maybe green 60-90 where the inconsistency may not matter much.

I'd go with the Micro number.

Once it is warm enough to order test strips from ADW (and not have them freeze enroute) I think I will switch back to Confirm/Micro to supplement my Contour USB.

BTW you have us spoiled. We will be looking here for pics of Henry (or Mikey) everyday.

That's why I said "most likely." I still hold out a smidgen of hope that Type 1 felines might be able to go into remission and/or he's not really Type 1.

I think the reason his PMPS was so high today is because he seemed to have a really early nadir at +4 and the insulin just wore off faster than 12 hours this time...although his nadir could have been even lower at +3 and I missed it! If so, this might just be a bounce from that, but even when he's hit super low numbers, he's never EVER bounced this high (highest before this was 407 back in November). I logged the middle one (378) since that's closest to the average of the 3 numbers.

Back before Mikey got too big to fit, whenever I'd be sitting around playing on the ipad, he used to crawl under the ^ created by the ipad on my lap. Henry now does the same thing. Mikey, on the other hand, has to either sit on my legs or he tries to force his way past the ipad. Today, Henry was sitting under the ipad and Michelangelo jumped up to sit on me, but he didn't want to take my legs, so he forced his way past the ipad and sat on my chest. I had both cats sitting on me at the same time! haha_smiley

Unfortunately, I had no camera available and no one else was around to take a pic for me, but they are definitely getting along now almost as if they had been litter mates. :-D

Not sure if I shared this pic yet, but here's from the first night after I got Henry.

*Note: Mikey is not mad; his tail is just always that fluffy.
