Our Blue Monday

Darn! Where did that yellow PS come from? We had such a nice, long, blue run gong. Well, at least it was just a blip and we're back in business. Cinco is so funny about his after-meal rubdowns. If I don't show up soon after he's cleaned his plate, he starts hollering for me. When I arrive he gets down on the floor and lays on his side, waiting. I have to spend several minutes rubbing his head and neck, and a little down his back (but not too far). Then he gets back up on the sofa and settles in, with his back to me, signifying the session is over and I'm excused. :joyful: This occurs with every meal and snack. Yes, I am well trained.

Ziwipeak Lamb was this morning's offering. As usual, the boys loved it. Sasha ate a couple of bites, then turned away. Even Forti Flora couldn't get her going. So I gave her some Fancy Feast and she only ate a couple bites of that. I think some Ondansetron may be in order. She hasn't needed that for a while. I didn't even try Minka with the Ziwipeak. She cleaned her plate of Fancy Feast in two sessions. That's what I like to see! She always perks up the day before the next chemo session.

Harvey ate and ate and ate this morning, all with no repercussions (anti-jinx). He's getting used to this new method of feeding, but that doesn't mean he likes it! I'll be sure to mention it to the IM at his pre-op appointment tomorrow. I'm nervous about this biopsy. I don't know if I'm more worried that it'll show lymphoma, or that it won't - sometimes it's better to know what you're dealing with. Plus, if it's IBD, this is going to get really complicated! Maybe they'll find something else, something easily treatable and benign. Please don't burst my bubble with reality.

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF & DH, Lisa's DF and Elise's DM. Get well vines also to Carla and to Deborah's Shasta.

Love seeing a Cinco condo while the sun is still up here on the east coast :woot:!! I also love Cinco's routine...kitties are SO routine-oriented it is amazing. Trix can tell time...she knows when it's time to get fluids and she rounds up DH to get the process started.

Bummer on the Sasha's pickiness this morning. Hopefully the Onda will get her going. Man, these cats will drive a bean crazy!

Sending tons and tons and tons of prayers for Harvey tomorrow.

Thanks, Amy. Just went up and checked on Sash. She hadn't eaten any more from either plate. I put the FF plate in front of her and she ate almost half of it. I didn't have any treats up there so I just came down to get some, hoping it will keep her eating. I've noticed that her appy is not as good in the morning and improves throughout the day. I'm not going to give her the Ond if I can get her to finish off her breffis. Paws crossed.

When Trix isn't feeling well, it helps to "prime the pump", so to speak. Like last week, when she was under the weather, she wasn't much interested in eating, but if I gave her a syringe of food, it got her going, and then after that she would eat fairly well from the plate...granted I was holding the plate, but she was eating from it. Maybe that's why Sasha feels better about eating as the day progresses...once she gets some food going, she realizes she feels better when she eats.

I think you're right, Amy. I know when I have had too much fun the evening before, I don't feel like eating in the morning, but once I get a little food in my stomach, I feel much better. Probably a similar deal. Although I don't think Sasha had too much fun last night! :joyful:

How cute on Cinco's after-meal rubdowns. I hope Sasha eats good for you. Sending good vetty vines for Harvey tomorrow.

Sorry Cinco! I flew right on past you, took a nice dive and then paddled around for awhile....but I'm up on shore now! What kind of trouble can we get into? ~China (did I say that out loud?)

That's hilarious the way Cinco has you trained! Has DH ever tried the same system to try to get a good rubdown?...LOL

I know how you feel about not knowing if you want a diagnosis or don't want one! Hopefully whatever is going on with Harvey won't add any more craziness to your already busy schedule.

Hope Sasha decides she's hungry later today....I'm much more of a "night eater" than a morning one, so I understand!

Cinco? What are you trying to start here. Now all the LL kitties will want a personal massage therapist. On their terms. Polly, Rowsie, Boomer. It's not happening here. A few pets from time to time, a good head scratch, and maybe a combing now and then. That's my limit!

Interesting about the morning food being harder to feed. Polly's that way, too. She just dabs at her breakfast. I fluff it with a fork, I use Fortiflora...she dabs. Of course she'll push the others away from their plates when she's free from the t/f/s room and finish their breffis, but that has nothing to do with hunger, more a "mine" mentality long lasting from her days in a hoarding type situation.

Sending umbrella appy vines! Sasha. Eat. Please.

Thoughts and vines for vet stuff tomorrow. Reality isn't everything it's cracked up to be; often, it isn't even real! No bubbles to burst. Just truckloads of light.

Marilyn and Polly

What a nice slide down for Mr.Cinco- the personal massage therapy must be helping!
Sending good appy vines for the girls and Harvey. Ever since our p-titis episode, I find that I do have to finger feed Tiger in the mornings. My theory and my vet agreed, is she has tummy acid built up overnight so a little Pepcid and Cerenia have helped a lot. Hope the girls feel better! :bighug: Hope your hands are better too, I hope the cort injection has helped.

Thanks for stopping in, Chris, Carla, Marilyn and Ruth.

Cinco didn't make it to the lagoon (as far as I know), but he got darned close. Must have been meeting up with China.

Minka just came down and asked for a snack, which she got, much to Harvey's disgust (it was the last of an opened can and I told him I'm not opening another until dinner).

I trimmed the overgrown catnip plant that's in my kitchen garden window and put the clippings in the dehydrator. I had a couple left over and waved them at Harvey and Minka, but neither batted an eye. I put one down next to Cinco, who was asleep. After a few seconds, he woke up, and then the fun started! I had no idea he like catnip so much! I videoed him for about 7 minutes, and if I can figure out how to edit it down some, I'll post it. Meanwhile, here's a pic of him passed out from all the nip:

I will definitely have to give him some on a regular basis. He needs the excitement and exercise!

I think Cinco staged that yellow AMPS so he could get some catnip! Great pic!
Rusty is slow to eat all his food. He takes a little, then returns an hour or two later, or gets the bowl held for him (or warmed up on the radiator). He is definitely not food-motivated. I'm trying to get him to gain back some weight. Advancing age may be a factor (we don't know how old Rusty is, but I think he is 15 or 16. He was discovered to be diabetic already in 2008, when he was found on the streets of Plymouth MA.).

Sending good vetty vines for Minka and Harvey tomorrow. We'll be thinking good thoughts.

Tess jsut heard about cinco's post meal routine, but thinks it should be pre-meal. She's pushed up against me getting scrtiches and asking "Is'nt it dinner time YET!"

Well, at least Cinco's catnip binge didn't affect his BG. Back to blue PS! I could get used to this! :) It didn't affect his appetite, either.

@Chris & China, I think Cinco is a bit of a lightweight, not having been exposed to fresh catnip before. I just hope he doesn't have a hangover! :joyful:

Sasha was still a little iffy about dinner, but when she stopped halfway through I added treats and she ate all but a bite or two. Good enough. Minka plowed happily through her FF with only one break at half-way for a change of venue. Harvey is protesting the fact that Minka got FF and he didn't, so he only ate the first spoonful of food he got and is boycotting the second one. We'll see who breaks first.;)

@Ann&Tess, Cinco is usually sleeping before his meals. He does wake up at the sounds of preparation underway, but he's always waited very politely to be served. My icon picture is from before he went blind, when he used to come and sit in the kitchen doorway, waiting for his plate. The most he'll do now is get off the sofa and meet me halfway across the room! Not the most energetic cat on the planet.

Ahhhhh, yeah Cinco, don't go giving Skooter any ideas there, buddy with that massage stuff. I really don't need to add ANOTHER item to his routines.

Now Cinco, you were sooooooooooooo close to da greens...why don't you slide on down and join Skooter?

As for the IBD, it actually can be quite manageable. Skooter was on a steroid, but now he is on, what I believe is a low dose, of budesonide, once a day. It's an oral compound and I get it from Wedgewood Pharmacy. A bottle lasts me about 2 1/2 months. But hopefully it turns out to be nothing major and Skooter and I are sending vetty vines. If it does end up to be IBD, just send Harvey over to chat with Skoots and he can give em the "low down"

Have a great night!

I've always wanted to have some fresh catnip around, but if I plant it outdoors, the neighborhood cats destroy it and if I plant it indoors, my own cats destroy it!....LOL

Say what?!!!! Where did that +3 come from? I hope it was a result of his catnip binge. Or a food spike....

@Chris & China, I have mine on the top shelf of my garden window in the kitchen. Even my most athletic cat can't get to it there. Turns out the only one who is interested is the least athletic! Weird, as Harvey likes to chew on plants, so I thought I'd give him a safe one. Joke's on me.

Hi Tricia!
I didn't realize that you have so many special kitty friends to care for. It sounds like a full house and a full life! I love the massage routine for Cinco. Our vet told me about using a seam ripper on Clare's hair mats, and now she sits in my lap each day to get a trim! I think it's just as good for me.
Hoping you have a peaceful day today,
Hugs and scritches,

Georgette and Clare

I love the image of Cinco demanding massages after meals. Neko gets acupressure after 1st breffs and I can tell she expects it now.

Cute pic of the stoner kitty. I grow my catnip in a hanging pot for it's safety and Neko loves the fresh stuff. Looks like you've found a winner for Cinco.
