Geezes what a mess we cleaned up this weekend. The folks across the alley for us basically gutted and remodelled their whole house so we had pieces of insulation, old shingles, trash, trash cans and what felt like entire trees from all the branches that were down. But of course the one thing I was praying the wind would take down is still standing. lol

We have an old and rotting wood awning over our back door that I hate because it catches everything then drops it on your head. So everytime we get a high wind I pray it finally takes a dive but so far no luck. Maybe the next high wind it will accidentally get hit with a flying debris (like a sledge hammer) lol



Other than losing power for about 24 hours we weathered the storm great and at least it was only wind and no sleet, ice or snow.

We're back in yet another high wind advisory for today but sustained is only between 25-35mph with gust upto 45mph unlike Saturday where sustained were 45-50 with gusts between 60-70mph.

That wind sounds super awful! And isn't it Murphy's law that, the one thing you want to blow over, doesn't. We've had the wind peel the flashing off the house. Yuck!

A few days ago, we had gusts of 86 mph at the airport! Had 2 funnel clouds spotted, but didn't touch down. Year before last, had a tornado touch down about 2-3 miles from my apt. That scared me, saw it on the emergency weather thing they had on tv. Luckily, it didn't come my direction. We don't usually get tornado, except with hurricanes. I think it was 3 yrs ago, give or take, one touched down right near downtown Raleigh, did a lot of damage. That was the year we got hit with a few. Like I said, we aren't in tornado alley, it's surprising when we get hit. I think all those were the same year, the one that came close to me and the others that did some damage, about 3 yrs ago. I have no sense of time since I'm not working. :lol:

You know you missed your chance? You should have gone out and got that awning with a sledge hammer and swore it was from the wind. ;-)

oh its coming down one way or the other this summer even if I have to tell god it died lol. It was ungodly ugly even when it was new back when dinosaurs walked the earth. Now I have to lift it up to open and close the door because it sags so bad.
