Good Morning, Everyone,

The snow we have been wanting is now arriving. Poor Linda has to drive home in it. The really bad--lake effect--snow should not be a problem for her, so we are hoping that she is having a safe trip with not too many problems with the roads. She left at about 8:30 this morning and is probably across the border by now (3 hours later).

We enjoyed her visit so much. Rusty was in heaven, getting all that extra attention and having someone to play with who is really good at playing with cat toys. Linda brought him a wand set with 5 attachments (feathers; streamers; etc.) and a fantastic "Crinklesack" with a bird sound when the kitty pounces on it, or in it. The combination of the two was irresistible and Rusty and Linda played vigorously throughout the weekend.

The beans' New Year's Eve party was a success. We had 20 people here and went through about 7 bottles of champagne (in addition to various beers and wines). The food was proclaimed "excellent". And the midnight fireworks (we walked several blocks down the road to view them from across the lake) were particularly beautiful because there was lots of fog and mist and the muted colors of the fireworks seemed to come out of nowhere. Before the midnight supper we watched the DVD of a 1980 performance in Munich of Die Fledermaus (a New Year's Eve tradition). After the supper and the fireworks we partied on until about 2 A.M. Edward and Linda and I then did the dishes and didn't turn in until after 3:30. AMPS, of course, was at 6:15 A.M.!! But I went back to sleep.

Yesterday (New Year's Day) we had sunshine for some of the time and we took Linda to Lake Placid Village (lots and lots of tourists) to walk around Mirror Lake and see the High Peaks in the distance.

We want to take this opportunity to wish all beans and kitties a Happy, Healthy New Year. We look back on the many splendid kitties who crossed to the Bridge this year and are thankful that they had good lives with the wonderful people on this board. They were, each in their own way, very lucky kitties, and, of course, very special kitties.

Thoughts and prayers for those who are not feeling well,

Ella & Rusty

Hi Kitties: Thanks for coming to my barn party. We had so much fun. Happy New Year,
Rusty

Beautifully spoken, Ella...and something that embodies the most poignant statement of love I ever heard as a counselor.
The only juvenile terminally ill client I ever worked with wrote a "For After" letter to his parents , which included this:
"Twelve years with you is better than 100 years anywhere else."

To be cherished and loved is an amazing gift, and is the first item in my definition of "quality of life"...
even for those whose time comes quickly.

Happy New Year to you...and safe travels to Linda!

Celi and the 3 kitty monsters (who are starting 2012 with many a whack 'n' growl :-D )

Thanks to Ella, Edward, and Rusty for a New Year's Eve to remember! The fireworks over the foggy lake at midnight were wonderful. Ella, thanks for all of your gracious hospitality. It's too bad that the weather didn't permit me to try snow shoeing  but I enjoyed the scenic walks around Moody Pond and Mirror Lake. Ella, I also enjoyed meeting all of your friends - what an inspirational and fun group of people. Most of all, of course, I loved visiting with Mr. Rusty Cat. He is so sweet, and obviously loves his people very much. It was exciting to see the actual barn where all of the kitty parties take place (I won't say a word about the secret room), and to also catch a glimpse of Rusty's friend, Shadow.

Here is one of the good photos I got of the very photogenic Rusty:

Hi again,
We are so glad that Linda got home safely. All that snow had us a bit worried, because we didn't know exactly where the bulk of it might fall. Linda, the weekend with you was great! Rusty misses you and has been moping around the house all day. But he did play a little with the crinklesack and wand this evening.

Not much else to add tonight except to say that Linda is a terrific houseguest!!!

Off to visit some condos.

Ella & Rusty

p.s. to Linda: Rusty looks very handsome in that pic.

What a lovely visit it seems was had by all. The party sounds fabulous...yum on the food...the fireworks. So idyllic!!! I'm sure you, Edward, and Rusty are the hostesses with the mostest!!!

Have a great evening!

Tinkerbell and Tawny are absolutely swooning over that pic Linda took of that oh-so-incredibly-handsome Rusty!

The party and the New Year's stories and the hospitality sure make a good start to this new year!

Nice #s today Rusty!
