The vet told me that Radar could have his 3 am snack. This morning he is starving and ready to eat anything he can find. Its been a chore to keep him out of the trash and away from the plants. His number this morning sure is pretty. We'll be loading him into his carrier soon. i need some breakfast and coffee before i head out into the morning traffic.

We are home from the vet's office. He did very well with the procedure. She had to take both of his upper canines because they were a mess. He also lost a tooth on the bottom jaw. They gave him a patch with pain medicine to wear for the next 5 days. They also gave me Gabapentin as an additional tool to control any pain he has. He will be on antibiotics for two weeks to get the infection under control. We will do a recheck with her on Monday next week.

He's very restless and is having trouble settling anywhere for longer than a minute or two. He's starving because he was too scared to eat the snack they gave him at the hospital. I'm trying to be conservative in how much baby food I give to make sure his tummy isn't upset, but I think he would try to eat a dinosaur if one was available. The vet said to give his full insulin dose tonight because she didn't give him any today and his numbers were really high.

I think that's it for now. I'm just so glad another dental is safely behind us.

Good to hear Radar is home, sorry about the teeth, Some types of anesthesia induction drugs lower the BGs. I would test now, then at PMPS to see if he is coming down, a kitty having a hard time eating is a bad combo with dropping numbers. Was it a Fentanyl pain patch he got?

Yes the pain patch is called Fentanyl. I'm so glad it's just there to give him constant pain relief and I don't have to worry that the pain will get ahead of us. :) I tested him when we got home and he was 489 on my meter. I just did his pmps test and he's at 453. So coming down but not plummeting. He's extremely hungry and is actively sharking my kitchen. His raw food for dinner was thawing in a metal dish which was sitting in warm water and while my back was turned he jumped on the counter and helped himself to it and then washed his face with a satisfied smile on his little furry face. I'll be watching him closely but I don't think we'll have a problem with eating based on his behavior. Is there anything especially I need to watch for? Or be aware of?

That sounds like a stressful day for Radar and you. Glad all went well. Higher BG from the stress of the day, perhaps? Hope that Radar recovers well and quickly.

Tiny says he can have her last can of dinosaur food...hope he likes the lighter meat. Rest well, you two.

So glad to hear that the dental went well and that Radar is not having a problem eating.

Hey Radar: tonight the kitty toofs fairy will bring you some nice presents. Ya did good!
