Hi everyone!

I sure hope that all of you on here had a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! I feel like I haven't been on the board in forever, I miss you guys! Peter goes back to work today so I'll have to devote many hours to getting our house back in order (what is it about boys and messes! ohmygod_smile ) But tomorrow I should be able to get back to visiting condos :-D

Mocha ended 2012 with a nice  67 so yay for that! She is loving the fact that we have two of her "boyfriends" going right now, Mr Hoomy, the humidifier .. She's not into her beauty treatments lately, because in the mornings we fill the humidifiers, and she would much rather be a part of that action over some lousy q tips!

We've noticed that her breath is getting a little stinky, so come February we are going to look into having another dental done on her nailbite_smile I just have the nervous feeling in my stomach that we shouldn't mess with what isn't broken, and that if we do, for some ODD reason, it would be mocha who goes back ON insulin after a dental! But, we can't let her be in pain if her mouth is bothering her either .. we'll do it somewhere local this time, so long as they have the x ray machines we want ..

Other then that not much to report around here .. Peter went to the dr's today for a blood work check up .. His iron levels are high once again so starting this saturday we'll be doing weekly blood draws to get the iron back down .. The dr is thinking just over a month or so of the draws and he'll be back down, which is good .. last time it was over 16 weeks that he had to go for draws ..

So, off to do the dreaded chores for me, and I'll be back to condo's tomorrow!

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Hi Devon, Happy New Year to you and your family. Mocha is doing great! :-D :-D I am shocked that she is tired of her beauty treatments but when something better comes along...  She is such a character. Paws crossed for the dental but I would think the dental is more likely to KEEP her OTJ. I sure hope so.

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

I forgot about Mocha's wintertime love affairs....silly, sweet girl! Yay on that 67! I hear ya on the dental. I think it's a delicate balance with our babies...we need to make sure they get the best care, and sometimes the decisions aren't always cut and dried.

Have a great day!

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Happy New Year Devon! Sound like Mocha is doing wonderfully! Sending positive dental thoughts. Kibby has really bad breath, too, and he had a dental...last year? Year before that? I can't remember now. I didn't notice it helping his breath at all. He's the only one of mine who's ever had one, and he's only had that one. He'll probably need another one at some point this year, tho - he has bad tarter issues.

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

The dental should help keep her OTJ if anything. The only thing is the stress of the op and the starving for 12 hours before could mess her up a little ..wonder if the vet can suggest any way to keep her calm? how is she in the vets normally?

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Hi Guys great report!! Sorry to hear about Peter hope that gets taken care of quick. I hear ya on the dental always scary to think you could mess things up! Paws crossed for a good dental. Have a very happy new year and hope your time at the falls lasts forever!

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

It's good to hear Mocha is doing well. I hope everything goes well with the dental. When Furball had her dental, it didn't seem to me like it made a difference in her numbers. It's so hard to tell what will help sometimes.

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

dancing_cat 67!! What a purrfectly good number for the end of 2012!! Dentals...yuck! I can't say that I'm a fan, myself. Fingers and paws crossed it goes well! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Hi you all! Wishing ou the very best for the new Year too Devon! Glad Peter got checked out and that it will be shorter amount of weeks for the blood draws for him. yay! And Congratulations to you and Mocha on that loverly green!!! What a good girl she is!! So proud of her!!
Seems with her numbers being in green that there is no inflammation in her mouth which is soooo good....best to prevent trouble by getting the dental before her numbers go up from infection or inflammation...right? We all hate dentals...dont' blame you for feeling the way you do....but prevention is the best route, IMHO. We will all be wishing for good results ...sending lots of good dental vines between now and then..
Hugs to you all for the New Year!!! Hope you have fun with your chores today... See you tomorrow!!

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Hi Devon! Sorry to hear about Peter's issues, but it's good to see that it can be "treated" in less time then before.

Now, Ms. Mocha....Good job young lady!! Keep those bg's right where they are supposed to be. Dentals are a bit scary, but a necessary evil. Spot is due for one also....for some reason we missed both of them in 2013...but that turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I got two free blood tests. As far as fresh smelling breath afterwards....well, not necessary, lol. My Ralphie's breath didn't smell any better!!

Happy 2013 To you and yours!!

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Happy New Year, Peter, Devon, Mocha, and Twix!

Glad you hear you are doing well and hope the blood draws help Peter soon and he won't have to do too many. Wonderful report for Mocha and we send her many good dental vetty vines when the day comes. It's probably best and will keep her in remission.

We've missed seeing you on our condo but know life keeps us all busy.

Have a wonderful, healthy, happy New Year!

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Hi Devon......I looooove Mocha reports!! I forgot how she's in love with the humidifier... I'm sure it keeps her beautiful hair soft. I need to get mine out, just to tame Clancy's flyaway hair. But his is long
Oh heck, Pat said it first. I was gonna comment on keep ahead of dental problems.
My vet clinic doesn't give reductions, altho they send cards reminding us that "Feb is dental month"...
Hope yours lowers the rates a bit.

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Nice to hear such a great report from Mocha! 67 is a great number to ring in the New Year
Paws crossed that the dental will be successful for Mocha and we look forward to seeing her show off her chiclets! Hoping that Peter feels better soon :-D

Don't work too hard!

Tamara

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Wonder ful WCR and so happy to see you back! I hope you had a great vacation!

Many vets have specials on in Feb for "dental month" I'd check it out. i need to find a vet that can do dental x-rays, i like our vet, but no machine. I don't suppose Mocha would put up w/ brushing? It does help to keep the dentals to a minimum.

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Hi Devon, always a treat to see a condo on sweet Mocha Jo! What a nice report on her, and good luck with the dental. It will keep her numbers in a good range if anything if she has teeth issues. Sending healing vines for Peter and the treatment. All the best to all of you in 2013 and scritches to Mocha.

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

Devon, it is so nice to read a Mocha report and to catch up on what is happening with you and Peter. I hope Peter's blood levels get better and in a short time.

Great news on Mocha. I forgot that she also loves to play with q-tips but I guess the humidifier is more interesting. Yay on the nice green numbers.

It is very hard to figure out what to do about the dental. I wish dentals were as easy on cats as they are on people.

Devon, Happy New Year!!!!

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

HAPPY NEW YEAR DEAREST Peter, Devon, Mocha Jo!!! So happy to see beautiful numbers for dear Mocha who is still loving the luxury of being the Princess, as does Miss Moonie

However, Yes we all fear dentals, but they are a fact of life here in LL..
Moonie had 2 big dentals and came out of it great! Dont worry we will be right here. To support you through it!! Yes, we love you that much!!Hope Peter will be feeling great too...We all got tokeep up with our ailemnts--Sending Tons of Love & Hugs from us to You!!
Have a great 2013!! Love Ya!!

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

You mean Twix isn't Mocha's favorite? Mocha prefers Mr. Hoomy to Twix? Oh, no!!!!!

I think stinky breath is definitely a reason for a dental.

Re: 1/2 Mocha OTJ

HAPPY NEW YEAR and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! This is such exciting news!!!!! HUGS AND SCRITCHES TO YOU AND MOCHA!!!!!

Happy New Year everyone!! it i great to hear from you, and I hope your holiday*(s) was a good one.

It is nice to read Mocha is still doing well. I remember the stories with her and the humidifier - too funny! Good luck too with the dental, when you decide to go ahead with it. Always such a nerve wracking time...

Have fun putting your house back together - always good to get things back to Normal. :-D

Congratulations on being OTJ. I hope the dental helps with the bad breath and to keep her OTJ.

Have a great day.

Happy New Year to you all!!

Hi Devon, We're glad that you had a nice holiday. I'm sure that a dental won't wreck Mocha's OTJ status. And just think, her mouth will feel good when it's over.

That is one fantastic video!!

Thanks for all the visits this past year and for all the encouragement. You are wonderful to visit so many condos every day. Good luck to Peter on getting his extra iron out. Sending vines for that!

Enjoy the evening and have a great New Year!

Hugs from us,

Ella & Rusty

I'm glad you guys are able to see the video! It is much darker online then what it showed on the camera .. probably not the best thing for video taking but at least we can capture some of mocha's moments now!

She sure does love mr hoomy ..

How great to see a kitty in remission for almost 2 years!!! That's wonderful! Hope all goes well with the dental and your worries are unfounded.
Wishing you & Mocha (and Mr. Hoomy) a great 2013 :-D

Hi Devon-

I was psyched to see a Mocha conda. Your little girl is doing great. For some reason I can't access the video...but I can't get on the PhotoBucket myself either. I sent it to myself at work so hopefully I can watch it there. I'd LOVE to see her with Hoomy.

I hope Peter gets better soon. I hate having blood drawn...yuck!

I'll look for updates about her potential dental. I remember how upset she gets when going to the vet. Trinket is the same way. Hey...at least you have the board for support if she does need to go in.

I am 100% with you "shouldnt mess with something what isnt broken". When I sense something is not right with my cats; like that stinky mouth , I'll try to "fix" it with feline mouth rinse which worked  Constipation; Miralax, Hairball remedy, olive oil, steamed pumpkin; fixed
