Good morning,

Yesterday's condo

1/1 AMPS=173 (0.5u); +3.25=220; +7=185
1/1 PMPS=293 (0.5u); +2=337; +6=371; +9=387

1/2 AMPS=337 (0.5u); +2=326; +9.5=279

Lucy vomited after eating the 1st dinner last night even though she ate well.
I fed her again an hour after vomited which she ate well.
But about 3 hours later, she vomited again.
She got really really sick at some point last night. She looked and still look so uncomfortable.
Her number is too high for it to be just insufficient insulin only, so I'm guessing she might be having a pancreatitis flare.
I gave her bupe, sub-q fluids and cerenia in the middle of the night.

I slept for 2 hours hoping she'd be feeling better in the morning, but she's not.
She's not eating anything.
Considering how high she is, I gave her a shot.
30 minutes early and a drop more.
I would have given her a full 0.25u increase if she was eating, but she's not eating.
I did drop the cartridge a couple of days ago, so I opened a new one.

I don't know what's going on.
I don't know what else to do. I already tried 4 different foods.
I'll keep offering. I can stay with her for a while before I have to leave for work......

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337 // Sick, Not eating.

Hopefully, giving her another dose of bupe and Cerenia when you're scheduled to give the next dose, will help. If not, can you get her into the vet after work if you think it's necessary?

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337 // Sick, Not eating.

The bupe was give 6 hours ago.
The cerenia was given about 4.5 hours ago.

Yes, I can take her to the vet after work if she still doesn't want to eat, but Lucy's vet isn't working till Sunday, so we'll have to see a vet who's not familiar with Lucy.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

She's still not eating ANYTHING, but her BG remains high.
I booked a tentative vet appointment at 5:40pm this evening since their schedule is getting full for today.
It's not with our usual vet, but no choice....

I'm just going to leave for work now while there seems to be nothing I can do for Lucy, and try to come home sooner than later, maybe around 3:30pm.....
I just feel sick to my stomach with worries.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

Mariko,
I'll be thinking of you and Lucy today. I'm so sorry Lucy is having these issues. Hopefully the vet can determine the root cause and get her feeling better and back on track. Sending get better soon vines to Lucy.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

Sending many healing vines. You can only give the cerenia once a day. That's why the ondansetron is good to have on board, too. You can give it bid to help with nausea. You can also give the bupe every 6-8 hours.

Please keep us posted. Poor Lucy and ((((Mariko)))).

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

I'm sending feel better vines and eating vines to Lucy.

It's so hard to leave for work, when our babies don't feel well.

I had to go to a vet that I had never seen before a couple of times when my regular vet was booked full, and we had favorable results, so hopefully you will too.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

(((Mariko))) Hoping Lucy's appy improves and she starts acting like she feels better. I can imagine the stress you are feeling. Hope the different vet turns into a good experience.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

Oh Mariko, I'm so sorry Lucy isn't feeling well or eating for you. And to have to go to work when that is happening is so hard  . Sending healing and appy vines to Lucy, and hugs to you :YMHUG: . I had good luck with a different vet last time, I hope you do too

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

our thoughts are with you today, mariko - we're sending all our best for Lucy! :YMHUG:

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

Sending healing vines for Lucy today, & support for you, Mariko. I hope Lucy's feeling better when you get home. If she goes to the vet, sometimes a new perspective can be helpful, but I understand your concern over not having her regular vet - I'm the same way. Please keep us posted.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

I'm sending snow flakes and healing vines and all the wonderful thoughts I can have that Lucy starts to feel better :YMHUG:

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

Sending prayers for Lucy to feel better and get her appy back. It's so stressful when we have to go to work when our kitties don't feel good. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: & prayers to you Mariko.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

Mariko, I'm sorry Lucy isn't feeling well. I hate having to go to work and leave our precious kitties. Sending healing vines for Lucy. I'll be thinking about you guys. :YMHUG:

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326 // Sick, Not eating.

{{{Mariko}}}

I know how hard it is to leave when kitty isn't feeling well. It's such a helpless feeling, not knowing what's best to do. Sending more healing and appy vines your way. I'll be praying that Lucy feels better when you get home. I, too, have had good results when seeing a different vet - I really think the fresh pair of eyes thing does help sometimes. Since they're in the same practice, this vet should be able to review Lucy's history and who knows? maybe he or she will have a great idea that will make all the difference. Keep good thoughts!!

How is Lucy doing? Sending prayers for her to feel better.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326;+9.5=279 // Sick, Not eating.

Thank you so much for your vines and well wishes.
So many of you are giving support and good thoughts to Lucy, and I am so grateful.

Lucy seems to be feeling a little bit better.
She ate about 1 tablespoon of Wellness Turkey & Salmon.
She may eat more, but I want to wait and see if she can keep it in before I offer more.
She is lying in her box and doesn't look too comfortable, so I'm keeping the appointment.
We will leave in about 30 minutes.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326;+9.5=279 // Sick, Not eating.

It's always hard on us beans when our babies don't feel good and there just isn't anything we can do to help.

Hope Lucy is feeling better this evening, or at least the vet can give you some answers.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326;+9.5=279 // Sick, Not eating.

(((Mariko))) Piling on some more good vetty visit vines. I hope the "new" vet can find a solution that will help Lucy eat and feel better.

Hi Mariko,
We are sending a beautiful bouquet of feel-better vines to Lucy this evening. I hope the different vet will be able to reach a diagnosis and that Lucy will be fine soon.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326;+9.5=279 // Sick, Not eating.

Sending good vet vines, and hoping the vet can prescribe or give her something that will help her to eat better and feel better.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326;+9.5=279 // Sick, Not eating.

Our prayers are with you for a productive vet visit and for Lucy to feel better. Any updates?

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326;+9.5=279 // Sick, Not eating.

(((Mariko)))
Sending tons more vetty vines for Lucy tonight. I'm sorry she is feeling so rough, and hopefully the 'new' vet will have some answers for you to help her out.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326;+9.5=279 // Sick, Not eating.

just came back from the vet.
I have to feed the cats now as almost the shot time.
I'll update soon.

Re: 1/2 Lucy AMPS=337;+2=326;+9.5=279 // Sick, Not eating.

Thank you again for your vines and thoughts.
Everyone here is so kind.
I hope Lucy realizes how many people are wishing her well.

The vet thought Lucy was particularly sensitive to him feeling around her tummy, so he think she has a pancreatitis flare.
She's never OK about people touching her tummy, pancreatitis or not, but I guess she tightened her muscle or something.
He said maybe not too severe, but Lucy is definitely painful.

So, what he suggested is the stuff I was already doing - Bupe, Cerenia and sub-q fluids.
He said to continue with these three for 3 days every day, even if she seems better, - Bupe every 8 hours, Cerenia every day, sub-q fluids every day.
Plus Cypro if she doesn't want to eat.
No new treatment was suggested, but I'm still glad I wen to the vet today because at least it is confirmed that it's pancreatitis flare.
And I got more of those meds.
I asked about ondansetron, but they don't carry them.
And he said he thought Cerenia would be better for Lucy as it helps with pain too.
I don't know if that's true, but that's not important anyway as they don't carry the other one.

She's eating slowly by finger-feeding, little bite by little bite.
So that's an improvement.

I wonder if this sudden flare may have something to do with the homeopathic remedy she got on Monday.
The homeopathic vet did mention that I may see some recurrence of the problem Lucy tends to have, as a healing process (maybe not exactly what she said, but something like that).
She said it wouldn't be a bad thing to happen, but this is too rough for us. I'll include all these details in my today's report to her.

Thank you for your vines again.
I am happy that she's eating, even a small amount, as opposed to so stubbornly refusing everything this morning.

Glad you are seeing some improvement in Lucy ~ hope it continues and she is feeling even better tomorrow. Continued appy/feel better vines.

Thanks for the vet update. If it's a flare, you've caught it early.

The reason the vet doesn't stock ondansatron (Zofran) is that it's a drug you can get at a human pharmacy.

Cernia may have some anti-inflammatory properties as well as being effective in combating nausea. It's not a pain med, though.

So glad you were able to get into the vet and get a little peace of mind today Mariko. Sending more vines Lucy's way for appy and no pain. Please feel better soon little girl cat_pet_icon

((Mariko)) and ((Lucy))
I'm sorry Lucy isn't feeling well. It's good that she's eating, even if it's a little bit of food. I hope the fluids/cerenia/bupe/cypro help her out. Give her some love for me.

I'm so glad Lucy is starting to feel better and eat a bit, and that you were able to get her checked out. Prayers continue from here...

I am glad that Lucy is eating for you today and I hope she continues to improve. It is so hard when our babies don't feel well.
