He has been pretty cranky since yesterday. As soon as he saw the needle this morning, he started thumping his tail angrily. He fought me quite a bit. Maybe the injection area is getting sore? I'll have to try to note down where I inject to make sure I'm varying it enough. In the beginning, he would happily lie on his side while I would inject, but now it's a biting and scratching affair. He doesn't complain when I actually inject though, it the skin pinching that he objects to. I use Ulticare 29g 1/2" needles. Maybe I should try a thinner gauge?

Or maybe he's just crashing from the Temptations treats yesterday! :blackeye:

I am sorry Hogan has been cranky. :( I have no clue about the injection site soreness. Osha has never cared. I use 31g needles. Maybe it is worth a try to see if he is more comfortable with the smaller gauge. Sending anti cranky vines!:bighug:

Bailey has suddenly started fussing and biting again after a short break from that behavior. I found this on another post. I think I'll give it a try. Maybe it can work for Hogan?

Tiny's 10/14 post PMPS at +11 was 192, then I decided to test right before feeding this morning, and she was at 158. After food she bumped up to 194 so I gave her 3.50 U of insulin. Normally, she takes her shot well, this morning...lots of protesting, biting and scratching. I have Feliway on a towel sitting right next to her to help for the next BG tests.

On the plus side, Hogan's ss is looking great in such a short period of time. Maybe he will be one of the lucky ones that goes into remission quickly. @Wendy&Neko once said that kitties who fuss may be signalling that they are ready to get off the insulin. I hope that is what Hogan is trying to tell you. (Anti-jinx, just in case)

*sorry for posting on this older thread. I had searched for the word "biting" to see if I could find a solution to Bailey's behavior and commented on your thread without checking the date.
