Stinky pinky! Hoping he comes down today cos i am not having patience pants right now. He seemed to be doing so well and then here we are again getting ready for another dose increase. He gets 3-4% carb food. Should I try a reduction? Or an increase?

Usual play fighting etc last night. He still has a lot of energy. And someone stole my little flashlight. I put it on the table last night and its gone this morning so now I am using this huge impractical one. I checked under furniture etc and found lots of toys but looks like I may need to buy a new one.

Re: 1/19 Tiggy AMPS 322 :(

That looks more like New Dose Wonkiness to me.

But it's about a day too late. If it doesn't clear in the next few cycles, he should be due for the next increase anyway.

Hear that Tiggy?

Mine haul around the small LED flashlights. Anything with a strap like that they pick up and carry around like prey.

Come down Tiggy, enough of that flat yellow!

Ok, can I increase tomorrow morning?
Go for it, as long as you are ready for anything all day/night tomorrow?

I like 10 cycles when they are going green or near green but in looking back that is looking more and more like a 6 cycle dosecrease.

Perhaps just the threat will convince him to throw a nice 60 for AMPS?

Re: 1/19 Tiggy AMPS 322 +6 256 PMPS 248

I am home all day tomorrow and Monday so i can watch. I would be very surprised if anything exciting happened but we will see... And I have the emergency vet on speed dial so he can do his worst (ok touch wood anti jinx)

Hear that tigg? Dose increase tomorrow! Ha!

Re: 1/19 Tiggy AMPS 322 +6 256 PMPS 248

The most I would expect is that he breaks that yellow streak sometime with more green.

You are lucky that although he likes some 40's, he virtually never goes below that.

Same with Chip, he hits 40's frequently but only went below that 2 times ever. That I know of. So far.

I feel for those who deal with more frequent 30's and even 20's. That has to make the dosing more complicated.

All that said, we should always be ready for anything. @-)

I know, if you look at his old SS (taken before and during his brief OTJ last year) you can see I was giving him 3iu at my vets advice even when he was as low as 40 or 50 preshot. And he was fine. Till he stopped eating after a few weeks of that.

And then it was cold turkey off the insulin and remission for 3 months until my dumb ass new vet prescribed a food for baileys allergies that he told me was less than 10%carbs when it was 35%. But I didn't realize as I thought it was stress of the new cat (bailey) and had him back on insulin... and then I found this forum and Marje pointed it out... The rest is history.

Re: 1/19 Tiggy AMPS 322 +6 256 PMPS 248

I remember that. I think it was Sienne who was suspicious of the food and Marje was able to look it up.

That was a bummer but you've done a great job with both boys. :thumbup

When I saw that first SS you had up then, the first thing I thought was Freestyle meter.

I was trying to think of how to ask when Gayle jumped in with the same question about the meter.

Looking back you lucked out that neither of them go red or black much, that meter fiasco might have been much worse.

Some have seen DKA because the cat was much higher than they thought. You were able to relatively quickly get them both on course.

he went into green! I am thinking he is listening to you. Now I am wondering if I should wait this last 2 cycles (9&10) before I increase? Although does it matter? Even if he is low green for the whole day, generally he is high enough on this dose to merit an increase?

I got two hours before his shot now. You are probably in bed ;)
