WCR: Most Ps in place. Appy is ok today, nothing special, but she's eating so hurrah! Pees and poop! I gave sub q fluids last night, but I have no idea how much. This bag is the crappiest. Absolutely no way to tell what number I'm on...horrible. I think I gave her a little more than 100 mL...didn't mean to give that much. :arghh: I've managed to piss her off in the past 5 minutes...I wanted to take pictures of her funky toe...definitely pissed that I was messin' with toe. There seems to be a growth on the bottom side of the nail and I'm pretty sure that's what's causing it to not retract. Anyone ever seen this before?

Also wanted to share pics of the cat scratcher I'm re-doing. Bought it at thrift store for $2. Fixing it up to donate to the Humane Society - Adoption house. Stripped it all down...carpet was nasty and rope was shredded...wish I had taken a real "before" picture but didn't think about it until I was halfway through demo! I'll post after pictures when it's finished!

Hi Deborah,
It certainly looks like something is under Shasta's nail. What happens when you try to touch it? Is it solid or squishy? Maybe have your vet take a look at it.
That looks like a really sturdy scratcher. A bargain, especially since you know how to refurbish it. Good job!!

Vines for Shasta's toe/nail. Have a good day.

Oooh, that looks like it hurts. What does her vet think? Sending vines.

A little rope and some hot glue and you've got yourself a great scratching post. How nice of you to fix it up for the shelter.

Looks like what might be called a cutaneous horn. If so, it is a build up of tissue, sort of like a callous. The vet can manage that.

Sorry about Shasta's toe. I don't know, but it looks like the vet may need to see it. How cool that you can fix up the scratching post.

Oooooh on the toe.

Sure could be!

Great deal on the scratcher. Nice and tall. Wood. Oh, yes. Great gift to the shelter.

*waving at the kitty* Hi Shasta! Pretty girl.

Hopefully the vetty can answer your toe questions for Shasta...love the picture of your little "smuggler's" sweet little face!

Ok...so, I decided I should soak Shasta's toe tonight in the anti-fungal shampoo and something strange happened. It looks like the "growth" on the underside of her toenail is a part of her toenail?!?! o_O Meaning, I think what looks like the toenail has actually ripped off the boney/fleshy part underneath. I tried to get some pics...they're not great, but what do you all think??? I also tried to get a video...please let me know if you can't see it.

In the video, it looks like the nail has detached from the quick. That would be painful. It may need to be cleaned under anesthetic, then taped down to heal or slough off.

oh my she's a good girl to let you get that vid! from this mornings pic I was thinking
that it looks like a part of the toenail has split off completely - like you have a seperate blood flow to two different nails from the same nail bed. Hope you can resolve it soon. Scritches and vines to Shasta
