I still have 45 mins before I shoot.

I wanted to do a third test but he was having no parts of that! I am only bleeding a little.

We are 3 for 3 last night..he hit the bathroom rug, the hallway rug and my rug in the bedroom.
Note to self- Do not leave a clean pile of clothes to be folded on bed. Result- you find poop under it on a pillow...days old? don't know :roll:
 
Those numbers are great! The magically appearing poops, not so much. What is going on with his insides? This must be frustrating.

Quite frustrating..I cut out the wet Chicken and Liver Proplan. Perhaps that was the problem?? He has been treated for the poo. I should have been a vet!!
The only problem I have to go to work at 2pm.
 
You know, I've read that Metamucil can have the opposite effect on cats that it does on people, actually reducing diarrhea in cats. Might be something to look into. Also, you could try switching him to diet of home-cooked chicken or good quality hamburger for a few days. By eliminating all the extra stuff (dyes for one) that go into canned cat food, you might give his system a chance to get back on track on its own.

I will go get some burger for him tomorrow that's a good idea.

Great numbers!! Poor Mickey. I wish the vet knew what was causing this pooping problem. You seem to have a pretty good attitude about it. I guess if you don't laugh about it, you'd have no choice but to cry. It's got to be terribly frustrating. I hope the fortiflora helps. Have you thought about posting in health to get more eyes on the tummy trouble? Maybe someone there would know a good trick.
 
So he has been hanging on in the 160- 170 range for 3 hours? With the 20% variance on your meter, those are basically the same numbers. So it looks like he is surfing along having had no insulin since last night?

I am wondering if the food change has made this dramatic difference in some way?
 
I'm hoping this sort of pattern continues. You got rid of the ProPlan, did you get rid of anything else in the house - the Whiskas or anything else?
 
I got rid of the proplan and the whiskas. Only feeding FF chicken, turkey, chicken and liver, fish and shrimp(he does not eat that), chicken and beef.

The upper level cats, (assuming he cannot get at the food) Getting rid of the proplan chicken and rice and slowly adding in Blue wilderness chicken. Hope it's ok. Says 100% grain free "natural evolutionary diet" For my dry food addicts. They do not like evo or wellness core.

I hope I made the right decision not to give insulin before I left from work. I probably could have given 1/2 of one unit. But chose not to. FIngers crossed nailbite_smile
 
That's amazing that he's still too low for a shot. I know others may have shot, but I honestly don't blame you for not. This is uncharted territory for Mickey. When I called blue buffalo about the wilderness wet food they also gave me the carbs for the dry. I don't remember what it was but I remember that I was surprised that it was so high. I think it was in the 20s. It must be so high from all the veggies. But if you're certain that Mickey can't reach it...you've gotta do what you've gotta do. I'm on pins and needles waiting for his pm number! I really hope the pooping clears up.
 
I'm very excited at the potential for diet being a potential road to more success for Mickey. I think it should also be a sign that he is very likely getting into the other cat's foods.

These sugar cats are little [well not so little in the case of Mickey ;-) ] carb sneaking missiles. And stealth ones at that.

So I know you have your hands full matching the requirements of 9 cats, so I can only encourage you to see that all of your kitties get the low carb wet. As for the remaining dry food addicts, Dr. Pierson has on her page tips to getting them to wet food. And Fortiflora which you have ordered I think plays a central roll in her strategies. As we've discussed it has animal digests in it that are very appealing to cats [the same frequently put on dry food to make it so palatable].

If diet really is central to Mickey sitch then you are lucky it is something that is so "easily" fixed. Many cats here struggle hard even when the diet is perfect.

I am concerned about how you are going to manage the weight loss program for him with the other cats requirements. But I think first things first - ban the high carb from the house.

EDIT: I know that with Mr. T and his diarrhea since he is an outdoor kitty it is very possible that he get's into a neighbors food despite the fact we feed him no-grain only. But there is no possible way to bring him inside only since he is very cat aggressive and we have other very docile cats. It is a bummer. I even bought him a cute little collar that says "please do not feed me." :smile: I say this because I'm identifying with your position of trying to meet all of your kitties requirements. It can be difficult.
