PMPS +3 = 201.

shot cleo 1.5 hrs late this morning because i couldn't find her again. she's acting ok, just went for a quiet place to sleep as it's been thundering/lightning all nite & most of the day.

shot cleo 3 hrs late this afternoon because i overslept. first time in months but pmps was pretty good. about 1 hr beforehand i caught her chowing on some wellness core dry food i gave my civie. chose to ignore it. i let her have a little yesterday, too, cassandra, so i smiled when you mentioned trying it. after months of having to tempt her to eat, it is just a relief to see her eat happily on her own. at least it's grain free but i have a hard time reconciling giving a cat fluids and feeding dry but right now we just have to try to keep her balanced.

don't really like to talk about dry food here because i'm a firm low carb canned food believer but inappetance is dangerous in itself. cleo had scary bad liver values earlier this year from excessive vomiting and inappetance.

anyway, fattened her dose slightly to counteract it. at +3 she was at 201 so i think it helped. this may just end up being a high cycle, tho, because of the late shots. it's just such a different ballgame when your cat isn't eating. hard to control the numbers when that happens.

thanks for the pill pocket alternatives, WCF. i'm going to try a few new ones when i go to the store next. just don't want to go out in this awful weather. the rain has just been coming down gangbusters. cassandra, cheese probably wouldn't work with her but deli turkey or ham would so i might try that, too, and just alternate between pill coverings to maybe trick her a little.

she's going in for chemo again on thursday, as long as her RBC count is good (WBC has been normal). i think her anemia numbers are slightly better, so the sucralfate may be helping. onco has agreed that we may add zofran or anzamet next to help with the nausea and vomiting that have come back slightly even with cerenia on board.

Chris, I understand your hesitation about dry food, but I agree that an inappetant chemo kitty needs to eat, whatever it is that she wants to eat. I fed my CRF kitty dry kitten food because she was skin and bones and wouldn't eat anything else. Do what you have to do. Good luck with the next chemo treatment.

Very encouraging that she ate on her own, even if it was something you'd rather she not have. Sounds like you can balance it and QOL is important, too.

Thanks for posting a Cleo update, I think of you two often.

I'd give my kitty doughnuts to eat if it kept her alive. Not eating is just not an option.
Take care, Chris and good luck with the next treatment. (((Hugs to you.)))

Chris --

You do what you need to do. It's like with steroids - they may raise BG but insulin needs can be altered to take that into account. If Cleo will eat something that's relatively healthy then let her eat it. You'll adjust her insulin. I'm glad to hear she was eating on her own.

So glad to read that Cleo is eating on her own. I hope her RBC is good so she can have chemo on Thursday. My mom was also so disappointed when she couldn't get her scheduled chemo due to low counts. Mom also found that zofran helped a lot with nausea -- hope it works for Cleo.

We're thinking of you, sending healing and peaceful vines.

I'm so happy to hear that she is eating. I'm certainly pro LC canned myself, but I'm also very pro cancer kitty can eat whatever they want. I agree with CD - if they want doughnuts, then they get doughnuts. There is really nothing quite like watching an inappetant cat actually enjoy food again. Cleo deserves every morsel, and you deserve any sense of relief it may bring, Chris.

Really hope the shipment gets to you soon. Was expecting it to get there today, even with the holiday yesterday. Stupid mail.

Have you tried HC canned? Even when Sasha was feeling horrible and wouldn't touch her usual food, HC canned FF would often work. Or do you have access to Tiki Cat there? Can she have fish? Tiki Cat Ahi Tuna and Sardine/Mackerel have gone over well here too, and they are LC.

nope, HC canned worked at first, so that's what i gave her, but no longer. even stinky foods like tuna & mackerel don't work with her now. she WILL eat canned white meat tuna (human food) and lick tuna water, tho. she's still eating a little canned but not enuf to sustain her so i was supplementing with baby food and now dry.

frank just brought the pkg an hr ago, cassandra. gonna open it now. postman left it on the front step so i didn't see it. thank you. :) i'll try the chewie with the next pill at shot time.

spoke with onco vet & told her the zofran helped cleo when she got the injection at the vet last week so she agreed to try that or anzamet. we'll see how it goes on thursday.

So happy it got there! I've had so many USPS problems in the last month I couldn't even begin to tell you..... Really wanted Cleo to have this and have it make her feel better.

gosh, it's good to hear cleo is eating on her own! who cares if it's dry? i'm with cd... i'd give her donuts if that's what it took. a kitty has to eat.
take care chris. i'm glad you were able to get some probably much needed sleep...
