Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the color blue, but I'm getting really bored with it at this point, especially when it's high blue

I think it might be time to bump her back up to 1.25..she's doing good, but not great

Finally got me some of the Terumo Thin Pro syringes and the plunger sure is sensitive! I haven't used them yet, but I do have a question. For those of you who've switched over to the Thin Pro, did they seem to measure about the same? or did they seem to be different in some way? (more or less insulin at the same dose?)

Guess I'll spend the afternoon trying to figure it out

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday and sending healing vines to those who need them!

Re: 1/19 China AMPS 193,+3 188 Terumo syringes?

Hi Chris,

What syringes are you using now? I bought the Terumos but I haven't used them yet either because I am using monojects which run higher.

Well, I'm no help on the syringes, all I can get are the BD :? It looks like a nice low blue for mid cycle, I'm jealous ;-) I hope if you do one, the dosecrease will bring flat greens for you :-D Have a lovely Sunday, Chris!

Re: 1/19 China AMPS 193,+3 188,+6 138 Terumo syringes?

Hi Chris,
The Terumos will almost certainly NOT replicate the dose you are measuring now on whatever syringe you are using. Every brand is different. If you use Monojects, you will probably find that your dose as measured on the Monojects is actually higher than what you thought it is because of the problem of the cone:

(Whoops, I see that you are using Relions. But am leaving this link for others who may want to view my sketch of a "perfect" Monoject.)

When I switched from Monojects to Terumos I had to "translate" the dose. There are many discussions of this type of "translation" in the LL forum, the most recent-- and ongoing-- in J.D.'s condo. Do you use calipers?
Here are some links to past posts by Marje, written when many of us were switching from Monojects to Terumos:

Happy reading!

p.s. The Terumos have what I call a "hair trigger"--very easy to push the plunger. This takes a little getting used to, but it's worth it!
p.p.s. If you dose with calipers, you will find that the Terumos make it very easy to get an accurate dose.

Re: 1/19 China AMPS 193,+3 188,+6 138 Terumo syringes?

Thanks for the reading material Ella!!

I have calipers but they just didn't seem to work that well with the Relions..and I think I remember Marje uses some kind of "Light box"? to help see things better. One of my biggest challenges is seeing the lines (and the more you look at them, the harder it seems to be to see them)

I have a little birthday money left over that I didn't spend on Raffle tickets, so I may check into the light box...and maybe a magnifier of some kind too.

I had noticed how easily the Terumo's plunger works! Have to be extra careful to keep my finger off the plunger until I'm ready to actually shoot!

Re: 1/19 China AMPS 193,+3 188,+6 138 Terumo syringes?

I am working on learning the Terumos. It definitely takes more time, presently, to measure the dose. That "hair trigger" means I keep pushing out too much insulin and have to keep adding more, over and over. Eventually, I think I'll get used to them.

I also used to use ReliOns. And I totally agree with you, that the longer you have to stare at those lines, the more you can't see them clearly.

Re: 1/19 China AMPS 193,+3 188,+6 138 Terumo syringes?

I've used Relions, BDs, Monojects, and Terumos. The first two boxes of Terumos that I ordered (pre-calipers), I sent to Julie because I hated them     But the Monojects were really a problem with that hub so I ordered the Terumos again and really set my mind to making it work with MJ's (the member) help. Now I love the Terumos. I love that the needle is in between in length. I love that I don't have to prime the plunger to spread the silicone so it doesn't stick. I love that it does not have a hub. It just takes time to get used to them.

Re: 1/19 China AMPS 193,+3 188,+6 138 Terumo syringes?

Chris, I'm with Rachel. I'm jealous of those lovely blue numbers. I wish Cinco would give me some of those! But, since you're hoping for some green, I hope you get some - safe ones, of course. :-D

Have a great Sunday!

Re: 1/19 China AMPS 193,+3 188,+6 138 Terumo syringes?

Well shoot...instead of greens we got yellow!

Unless I see something radically different by PMPS, I think it's time to increase...Now I just have to figure out how to do it with the new syringes!

I do love how easy they are to push...but I can also see where if you accidentally hit the plunger against something, you'd lose your dose!! Practice makes perfect I guess!!

Re: 1/19 China AMPS 193,+3 188,+6 138 Terumo syringes?

Good luck if you increase tonight. I hope you can figure out the new syringes and they work for you.

Re: 1/19 China AMPS 193,+3 188,+6 138,+9 217,PMPS 168 Increa

I went ahead and increased to 1.25 tonight, but didn't use the Terumo syringes yet. I figured it was safer to use the Relion's when I increased since I (kind of) know where the lines are.

I'll keep working on learning more about the Terumo's and figuring out how to switch over safely.

Hopefully the little extra drop or 2 will bring her down just a little more..without doing any cliff diving!!
