I went and visited Sid again tonight. He was much improved from last night even though he was still groggy from the anesthetic. Earlier in the day he was fighting them when they were trying to poke him or whatever they were doing and that is a good sign! The poor boy has so many tubes sticking out of his neck and paw!! But he purred when I petted him

The specialist said the best diagnosis will be small cell lymphoma because that is treatable with medicine and requires no special diet consideration; IBD or pancreatitis will be challenging. He noted that Sid's stomach and small intestine are very abnormal and have a surface appearance of cobblestone - doesn't sound good. But he has a feeding tube now so I will be able to get the food in easier. I did post a message to the FAF site but I did not yet post any bloodwork. I have not gotten his latest results from the specialist. They seem to go up and down - his potassium and phosphorous are still low and he is more anemic but the specialist explained the anemia is probably because the cells are being used and so a lower number appear on the blood count. So let's just hope Sid improves and doesn't need a blood transfusion.

Sid will hopefully come home on Friday. They are going to try him on a longer acting insulin starting maybe tomorrow - which one is still under discussion.

Lydia, thanks for keeping us updated on Sid's condition. I hope you're holding up ok -- I know how hard this must be for you.

Keep up the fighting spirit, Sid. I'm glad he has a feeding tube.
Sending feel better everyday vines.

Good Morning Lydia & Sid,
We are glad that Sid has a feeding tube (is it the e tube?) and that his condition had improved by last night. Keeping fingers and paws crossed for a diagnosis that will be the easiest to work with. Sid, you are a brave kitty. Keep fighting! And Lydia, keep your spirits up. You are doing so well handling this.

Many thoughts and prayers and vines for healing are heading your way this morning,

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

I am so glad Sid will be getting regular nourishment now. Is it an e-tube?

I have just gone thru this w/Tawny, who is doing great now. The tube saved her life. Please let me know whatever I can do to help. PM me or post anytime, as I, as will many others, be will be keeping eyes on you and Sid.

Did I post the link to the feeding chart Karrie developed for Tawny for you in an earlier condo? It calculates the # of calories per gram in different kinds of food, important w/tube feedings cuz otherwise you don't know how many calories there are in say, 40mls of whatever you are feeding via tube. Since a recovering DKA kitty needs 1.5 times their regular daily caloric intake, this helped me track Tawny's calories to ensure she was getting enough. It was an invaluable tool during Tawny's illness.

I am so glad Sid is fighting, that means he's doing better.

Hi guys .. thanks for the update .. I know how scary and nerve wracking this must be .. but sid is fighting and has everyone in LL pulling for him .. Give him hugs and lubs from us :YMHUG:

(((Lydia))) I'm so glad Sid has in a feeding tube and am hoping for the best recovery now for him. I'm sure he will feel much stronger with the regular nourishment.

Sending more prayers and healing vines for him.

My cat Biscuit (GA) had a blood transfusion and I could see huge improvements in him right away. He got blood from the vet's resident cat. My vet told me that's why they have cats living in the office, so they can be blood donors if needed. I keep a photo of that cat in my house becuase her blood helped my little guy.

I will be thinking of Sid and you and looking for progress reports.
