For some dumb reason when ever I type in yesterday, I sing in my head..."all my troubles seem so far away"....

Chatty Kathy visited Maverick a few times last night. We have smart meters on our house now and the hydro rates are INSANE during peak and mid peak hours. So I have to wait until after 9pm and before 6AM to do laundry. I can never get in both without falling asleep and wake up too late to put the sheets in the dryer. So my new sleep oasis in the spare bedroom isn't complete until the sheets smell ultra fresh. THey've been stored for years and years since we got our king sized bed.

I want to get a curve on Maverick today but think I will have to settle for spot checks. I have errands to run today. Lost my bank card to have to go to the bank again and my Mastercard pin - you have to reset it at the bank! (try three times to remember a pin on a card you use once in a blue moon and it locks the card). So two banks today. Plus rescuing that Petsmart fish if he's still there (setting up a 10 gallon qt tank). I have to do a water change on the 15 gallon salt water tank. Its a really small tank with hermit crabs and a clown fish. But he bites the hell out of my fingers when I am vacuuming the tank. He's named after an evil clown - Pennywise lol.

My goldfish all have names. Meego, Farley, SamMoo, Leno, Lolly, Fanny, Reba, Ripley, Tripp, and the dojo loaches (Snarlettes) They are in three tanks from 20gallons to 55 gallons.

Nice AMPS for Maverick! I love the names of the goldfish - are you able to tll them all apart? Lucky goldfish. Do the kitties try to get up and look inside?

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

Thanks. Maverick hasn't shown a blip of interest in them at all. It amazes me some of the cats here sit and watch the video catnip DVD.
Yep they are fancy goldfish so very easy to tell apart. I'm very attached to them. Never ever would have thought I'd get attached to fish until I rescued my first one four years ago. Just like raising orphaned wildlife - you'd never know that squirrels, groundhogs, racoons etc all have very different personalities. My husband says I anthropomorphize. But since he helped foster and feed these baby animals with me he hasn't hunted since

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

Nice start for Maverick! I had a goldfish once. My kitty, Gracie (GA), thought I brought her a toy. It didn't matter where I put the fish bowl, I'd find Gracie sitting next to the bowl usually dipping a paw into the water, and looking at the fish with an expression that said, "Lunch."

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

Looks like Maverick and Simon both love the green this morning. We also have goldfish and my cats are not interested in looking at them. Funny -- you would think all cats would spend hours watching fish. Good luck at the bank -- what a pain!

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

Hi Karrie, Fish! A whole new dimension!! Fish rescue. Good for you, and I anthropomorphize too (all my plants have names). Great AMPS for Maverick today. Good luck with your laundry.
Ella

Hey Maverick, Full Wolf Moon Party tomorrow at Camp Stu. See you there.

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

Maverick's looking great this AM!

We recently lost our betta fish, who had lived for over a year with a giant tumor on his lower half. We didn't know what to do about it, so I just kept feeding him until he no longer wanted to eat. He was the fishie that wouldn't give up, but at the end, he could no longer get to the top of his tank for air. We may get a new one sooner or later, since I don't have near enough things to take care of lol! I name all my animals and plants, and even my car. (Her name is Esmerelda Villalobos!)

Fresh sheets rock-- so worth the effort if you ask me :) Good luck with the bank and rescuing the goldfish.

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

I can so understand being attached to fish my Oscar would rush over to be fed miss my Oscar recently when DH and I were talking about setting up a tank he said now Lisa no Oscars if we get a tank since LOL they eat anything smaller then themselves but have so much personality for fish  Love your fish names Karrie and nice amps for Maverick today

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

Nice amps for Maverick today- He is looking really really good!!!
-You just have love for all living things like we do..We even have names for the pesky pigeons & squirrels that eat half the seed we put out for the birds!
But the cats keep eating my lucky bamboo plants--Are they eating my luck??
Keeping a fish tank is very hard, me & my bro did it as kids--We were always heartbroken when they died -Oh well!
Have a great Tuesday!!

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

Nice stat for maverick today - what a great amps!

Wonderful on the fish tanks. My neighbor used to have alot of them - huge things: fresh and salt water. Truly amazing. Sometimes I'd find my cats over at her place staring at the fish in the one tank that she had close enough to the slider for them to see.

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

Nice start for Mav today! Good luck getting all the errands ran and the fish tank in place! I shudder to think of the mess Willie or my clutzy self would manage to make of one! Which is too bad, because they really are nice!

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

Nice BG for Maverick..

I like the names of your goldfifhies... what will you name the new one? Maverick is not interested confused_cat
I'm not even thinking of a fish tank here .. Frip would be on top of it (literally), and strange cat… he likes water too so …

Thanks for visiting our condo today  . Sounds like you have your hands full, with a busy day. Take care bcatrun_gif

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

Hi guys, its been a crazy day here.

I don't name my plants but I should name my car lol. That's cool!!! Its a Kia Soul (ideas?). Give me some examples of plant names guys :-D :-D :-D

Violet I had a betta I lost two years ago to a tumour also. I told him he was my one and only ever betta and I'd never replace him. I cry when I lose fish.

I've read that Oscars are the most amazing fish. They learn to recognize their owners and are extremely interactive and personable. I hate that some people feed them goldfish though. ohmygod_smile A friend of mine just got one and they do need huge tanks. Like 75 gallons per fish. I can have five goldfish in a tank that size LOL.

I'd love to have a larger salt water tank but there isn't enough pressure in our house to make RO water. We have to buy RO water for the saltwater tank. We have some soft corals, mushrooms and zoas.

I'd love to know what your names are for the squirrels and the pigeons LOL. Bet they aren't happy ones

Here is a video of Tubbles. You guys will think I'm the crazy fish lady. But for those of you that do, think it, don't say it lol. I didn't plan on rescuing fish, they just have a piece of my heart. Not as big a piece as Nike or Maverick, but a piece just the same. Tubbles was my first gimpy goldfish. He lost his swim bladder and stayed on his side which was getting raw, because he'd zoom from end to end on his side. So I made him a sling. The video below was the very first design which was optimized. Every morning that I put him in it he would get all excited and spend the whole day zooming around, exploring every inch of the tank and able to get food with no issues.

Video of Tubbles the very first time in his sling and managing to catch food.:

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

I'm really not crazy or obsessed. I promise. A few of us on a goldfish forum decided to try because we had fish with buoyancy issues. I didn't expect it to work LOL. But he just loved it and it took me like ten minutes to make. I wouldn't do this for another fish. Just he had issues with his side getting raw because he was soooo mobile on the bottom. I had tried everything to prevent it and nothing was working.

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

That video was amazing and yes my Oscar did know me and yes I fed him goldfish  and also feeder minnows and crawdads I want to crawl in a hole now   anyway I am truly amazed with your goldfish video that is so cool

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

LOL Lisa. Its okay. Just that I empathize with the goldfish now    I'm a vegetarian too so I think I inherited a little too many empathy genes. Or a really strong one. But I do feed Maverick and Nike dead animals ;) Actually when my husband moved in, Nike LOVED him right from the start. He fed her real meat! - Steak, chicken, tuna. I lost my dog, she became his.

Re: 1/18 (oops) Maverick AMPS 77

That is awesome. I missed something, but why is he in a sling? He is so cute! Oh I just saw above why you made him the sling.

Ok. Color me AMAZED! I had no idea about the little fishies. I thoroughly loved the video and photo of the little sling.
Seriously, I'm sitting here with my mouth hanging open! :o

And I have to say I'm very glad that Maverick is not interested in 'lunch' as Sienne said.

Oh, back on topic... nice PMPS for Maverick!

WOW!!! I'm impressed; Tubbles is so cute swimming with his sling… :-D Nice video... How did you get that on him?

So you are a crazy cat and fish lady!!! Don’t worry lots of crazy cat ladies here… ;-) we get it...

Wow, Karrie, what a clever idea! I've had fish before with swim bladder issues, I never thought of something like that. My SIL had one not too long ago too...I wish I had known about this then! Great idea!

I have a big parrotfish, she is very territorial, so I had to move the other fish out of the tank since she started killing them, so she lives alone! They are a lot like Oscars, intelligent and interact with their owner, but they don't need the ....um....live food. She's very cool, she will follow you from one end of the tank to the other when you walk by her, DD plays "tag" with her. The civie loves to sit and watch her, but she can't get into the tank, and i doubt she could do anything with her even if she could...she's way too big to scoop out with a paw! Tinkles ignores her.

Pretty numbers for Maverick today!

nice numbers indeed for Maverick!
thanks for your continued support....much appreciated....it sure has been tough!

btw...i know nothing about fish...never owned one in my life! cute names though....

have a good night you two....
