I hear you Joni. It's tough when you're the sole care giver. I was the only one for the good 5 months of this journey but DH learnt ho to measure BG and since he's been quite good with it so it's a huge help.
I started with the AnimalBiome process to resort Fistuk's gut so he has less constipation. It's been quite a long process but it's going in the right direction.
If he goes two day without poopy I give him half Miralax and it sends him straight to the box. Normally he'll need another day after Miralax to get regular again. I'm happy I did't need to use it for some time now.
You can try add unpasteurised cow of goat milk to any fermented food such as kefir to help with constipation.
I also add fibre to Fistuk's food. I tried and tested and realised that 1/8tsp of psyllium husk twice a day it the swit spot for him. It's good to try.
many folks here give cooked pumpkin for constipation (without any spices or stuff). I tried that once but didn't like the result. Psyllium works better for Fistuk.
dealing with either constiptaton or diarrhoea is a pain but with patience and trail and error you'll eventually find the right thing for Leo
