Yesterday's condo here: http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=61351

Recap of yesterday's BG readings:

AMPS - 140, gave 1 drop Lantus
+4 - 77
+6.5 - 91
PMPS - 93, gave 1 drop Lantus
+2.5 - 79

This morning Cini's AMPS was 147. A beautiful Robin's egg blue :-D

Don't know if anyone has looked at my SS lately but, for the past week, I have been taking some random, off-cycle readings from the typical AMPS, +2, +6, +10, PMPS just to make sure Cini was staying consistent. I noticed he seems to drop the most now at +4 (previously he would drop at +3).

In the interest of making sure he doesn't drop too low, I think maybe our new routine should be AMPS, +4, +6, PMPS?

Thoughts? Comments?

Re: 1/18-Cini Mini-AMPS 147 - Observation and a Question

I definitely agree with the changed times - Cini may be headed out on another mission of trying to get rid of that drop of insulin you're givin' him. Wonderful work MamaBean... :-D

Hugs!!!

Thanks Lyresa and Devon, it's all Cini Mini's doing  I'm just helping.

Re: 1/18-Cini Mini-AMPS 147 - Observation and a Question

Personally, I think it's hard to know if getting tests they way you have been is giving you different information than you had been getting unless you get a +2 as a means of comparison. The nadir can move around -- it's not a fixed point. It can change from day to day or even from cycle to cycle. As long as you're comfortable with when you're testing, it's good.

Re: 1/18-Cini Mini-AMPS 147,+4/106 - Observation and a Quest

Hey there Sienne.

I wasn't trying to say Cini's nadir occurs at +4, just that I start to see a decline in his numbers at +4. Previously Cini would start to decline at +3.

I understand the value of getting a +2 reading and don't want to discourage anyone from doing that but ,for now, my work schedule isn't going to allow for that. With this new project I'm on, I'm probably only going to be able to get 4 readings a day during the day - AMPS, +4, +6, PMPS. Hopefully those times will give the best information on how Cini's doing.

Re: 1/18-Cini Mini-AMPS 147,+4/106 - Observation and a Quest

HI Cathy,
The test times for the daytime cycle can easily be accommodated to your work schedule. In fact, I think you could even do a +5 instead of a +4 and a +6 in the daytime cycle. On days when you are around and it is possible to get a spot check at a different time(s), that would be great, too. You are getting a good representative series of numbers during the nighttime cycle.

Good luck on that tiny dose!!

Re: 1/18-Cini Mini-AMPS 147,+4/106,+6.5/112 - Question

Hey Ella, that's a good suggestion.

Maybe as a routine I could do AMPS, +2, +5 and then PMPS.

Of course, this all goes out the window if I get wonky readings on any given day then I would test more often.

Re: 1/18-Cini Mini-AMPS 147,+4/106,+6.5/112 - Question

punkin's not ever been a diver, so based upon what i know about him, i try to always get a +3ish because it tells me what's going to happen next. if it shows a lot of action into a lower range, then i know i need to test again at +4 or so. if it's still over 200, there's not going to be any possibility of a low nadir. then i just test at about +5.5 or +6 to try to catch his lowest point.

just going through my own thought process out loud so that you can see the "flow chart" in answer to the question "if i get this number at this time, then i will do x."

Re: 1/18-Cini Mini-PMPS 108 - Thanks for the advice :)

Thanks everyone for the advice.

I think what I'm going to do is -

AMPS
+2 (If I can get away from my work to get one)
+5 (This is during my lunch time, so not too hard)
+10 (This is right after my work day is done)
PMPS

That's the best I can do during the work week.

Oh, and a smoooooth PMPS tonight of 108
