Yesterday, not sure I want to talk about yesterday, lets just say I'm happy today is here  . Well ok maybe talk about it a little and to why I didn't get my condo up.
Was going to post my condo when I got home from the dentist (having issues with a crown), got ready to leave and put Ryleigh in her crate (she still has to be confined when no one is around to watch her.
For whatever reason she started to cry and was shivering almost uncontrollably. I told her I would be right back, got about 2 min down the road and felt the need to turn around and go back home. I just had a feeling that I would have come home and "something" would have happened to her, what I don't know, but my tooth wasn't as important as her. So I walked in the door let her out and she darned near attacked me with kisses and panting and "don't you ever leave me again" attitude. Now she has been upset before when I've left, but nothing like this. I honestly feel that she had a puppy panic attack, if that's possible.
I called the dentist and asked if I could come in a little later and they had one for a few hours later in the day.
For the next 30 minutes I held her in my lap with her blanky covering her (she's been an under the blanky kind of girl since the day we rescued each other) and she finally let out a deep sigh and relaxed. When I got ready to leave for the appt again, all seemed ok. ohmygod_smile It must have been the way I was acting or something I did or said that she just didn't like.
Crown looks fine, dentist says I might have a fractured root under the crown and referred me back to the Endodontist that did my root canal for a reevaluation to see what needs to be done next. :-x Oh goody!

I would like to ask if there is an alternative to Bupe, I am paying $45 for a 5ml vial and it If I give it to him every 12 hrs. (he gets .15ml) it doesn't last very long so I have had to resort to just once a day.
Also, what toothpaste do you use on your kitties or droolers, I'm looking for both.
Thanks for any input! :-D ;-)

Tommy, wow what can I say, that was one heck of a bounce. I kind of thought I might get one, but not that big nor did I think he would have such a pretty color to start the day, but I'll take it. The only saving grace about his outrageous numbers yesterday is that I didn't have to worry about him and could keep my appt. I thought that was very sweet of him.
I feel like I missed out on so much yesterday being away, I must go peruse some condos to see what's going on in with the sugar kitties!
Praying that you are all doing well and for those that aren't, prayers, snowflakes and all kinds of healing vines to you and your babies.

Re: 1/17 Tommy AMPS 116, +2 87 Bupe Alternative?

Hi guys .. nice numbers tommy!! It's kinda funny how sometimes those higher numbers work out in our favor .. Poor ryleigh, she must of had one heck of an anxiety attack .. it was sweet of you to turn back home so you could just comfort her .. Have a great weekend guys!

Lauren

Oh gosh what a day you had. Sending you big :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I'm glad Ryleigh is ok and I hope you can get the tooth sorted out quickly.

I don't know if you have a compounding pharmacy nearby but if you don't, you can get a script from your vet. Diamondback Pharmacy in Phoenix does mail order and so does my compounding pharmacy.....Prescription labs in Tucson. (520) 886-1035. I asked them and they said with a prescription from your vet, they could mail it to you but you would have to sign for it.

The reason I am suggesting this is because I think it would be cheaper. They dispensed 15 ml of bupe to me at a 0.3 mg/ml concentration at a cost of $53.63. This would last you 50 days dosing at 0.15 ml bid.

Re: 1/17 Tommy AMPS 116, +2 87, +7.25 187 Bupe Alt?

Hi Squirrel,
That was a good thing to do yesterday. Best to avoid panic attacks, even at the cost of your dental appt. Nice to see Tommy in good numbers this morning. He even made it onto the GREEN TEAM briefly.
Good luck with the Bupe.

Have a great weekend.

I LOVELOVELOVE Tommy's numbers today!!! Looking good, Tommy!!!

You're such a good mom!!! Ryleigh is so lucky to have you!! I'm glad to hear you went back for the baby....and that you still were able to see the dentist!! Good luck getting everything straightened out.

I've missed putting up a condo for the last 3 days!!! Life sometimes just gets in the way!! I hope you have a terrific day today!!

Re: 1/17 Tommy AMPS 116, +2 87, +7.25 187 Bupe Alt?

Oh dear, I'm glad everything with Ryleigh is ok, sorry you had such a rough day, and a dentist appt to top it off. Tommy looks great today! I hope you can find some cheaper bupe :-D I use C.E.T. toothpaste (seafood flavored one) for Chyna and she seems to like the taste, I got it at thrivingpets.com on brand recommendation from a few others on here but I'm sure there are other good brands too. They have for cats and dogs...http://www.thrivingpets.com/index.php/dental/toothbrush-oral-hygiene-kit.html Hope that helps:) Happy Friday!

Re: 1/17 Tommy AMPS 116, +2 87, +7.25 187 Bupe Alt?

I use CET, as well, and have gotten through Amazon.

I'd check with your vet about Tramadol. Some folks here have used it for pain management with their kitties.

Re: 1/17 Tommy PMPS 257 Bupe Alt?

Good evening all, Thank you thank you for the input on the pain meds and the toothpaste. I shall check into it all.
Marje, as always wonderful info and advice, I'll look to see about a compounding pharmacy here first and then if that falls through I would like to take you up on your offer.

Devon, Ella, Patty, Rachel, Sienne, thank you so much for stopping in and giving me kudos on going back home for my Ryleigh bear and info on products for my kiddos. I love when you visit :-D ;-)

Wendy, thanks for the link to the message Julie had sent out, I actually read that already but it's nice to get refreshed and so I bookmarked it for later use :-D

I gave Tommy .5R at +10, he was 211, his numbers were creeping a bit more than I'd like to see, so not too upset at the PM number. Hopefully we can get this bouncing over and back to pretty blues and greens.
Off to have some supper but I'll BBL

Re: 1/17 Tommy PMPS 257 Bupe Alt?

tramadol is great for some cats, but punkin had hallucinations with it. it was the freakiest thing i'd ever seen. a friend who is a nurse happened to be here when i'd given it to him, and she said he was behaving like he was seeing things. he was sitting still, looking all over the room like things were flying through the air. i didn't give it to him again. i know there are cats that are ok with it, though, so maybe it'd work for Tommy.

my brother's dog has panic attacks. she's destroyed more than one crate and she's also eaten through the trim and sheetrock around their glass sliding door. she only does that when she's home alone, but it sounds like it's really awful. i hope Ryleigh is ok now.

sending you buckets of sympathy over your teeth. :YMHUG:

I know Ann (Ann & Maggie(GA) ) was using transdermal tramadol with Maggie for a short time, and Maggie did OK with it. You could try PMing her for some info.

Poor Ryleigh...I wonder why she panicked? She knows she has the best MamaBean though. I'm glad she was able to calm down...little sweetie.

Tommy had some great numbers earlier...I'm sure tonight's bounce will be short-lived. I hope you can get some R&R in now, after all you've been through!
