I was able to go and visit Sid tonight. A friend drove up there with me (icy roads and all!)
He lifted his head and talked up a storm when he first saw me and that really made me happy. He pushed his chin against my hand and purred like he likes to do so I know he was very happy to see me. I took him two blankets from home and I hope they comfort him.

The specialist told me this morning that Sid is not really improving that well. Both his potassium and phosphorus levels are extremely low. He is on a drip and supplements so I keep hoping for some improvement. Sid acted very weak though. He would barely lift his head and could not open his eyes. When I left he was back to hanging his head over his water bowl.
So I was very happy to get to see him and let him know I was there and didn't abandon him, I was sad to see him in such poor shape. I'm really really hoping he gets better. It doesn't look like he is though. I haven't given up hope though.

(((((Lydia))))) It is so hard to see our babies suffering. You are a great bean to go see him and he really appreciates it. He's still fighting so don't give up hope. They can make amazing turnarounds.

Tawny was really sick too and several times I thought she wouldn't even make it to the clinic. The 2nd time the ER took one look at her and blurted out: "She looks terrible!" (She did, and she'd only been home 2 days, was doing good when discharged, declined at lightening speed.) The 3rd time (this was the time they told me on Thursday not to worry about the ketones on the BBK meter and on Sunday when she was worse told me to wait til Monday morning to bring her in) the vet tech was trying to get the preliminary report out of me and Tawny just laid there, wouldn't move at all, was lethargic and near death. The tech took one look at her and said "I don't like the looks of her, I'm going to take her to the back" (for immediate treatment). She'd been home a week or so that time. Many times I visited her & she was weak and lethargic. I think it took them 3 or 4 days to finally get her potassium and whatever else it was to the levels where it was barely safe enough to put the etube in. They didn't even put her completely out, just used a "light sedative" b/c her condition was so precarious.

Sid talking to you tonight and pushing his head against your hand and purring is a really good sign. I am so glad you got to see him.

We are continuing to send healing vines, prayers and snowflakes with all our might.

Hugs to you and chin scritches to Sid! Hopefully he will turn the corner soon! (I'm partial to cats named Sid, BTW. We had a Sid when I was growing up, but our Sid was a girl.Oops.)

I'm so glad you asked a friend to go with you to the hospital so that you didn't have the long drive alone. I'm sure Sid was comforted by your visit and by the blankets you brought. It sounds like he is gravely ill, but as long as there is a chance for his recovery, I'm hoping for it right along with you. Take care of yourself, Lydia.

I'm sure your visit encouraged Sid to keep fighting and I'm glad that you're not giving up hope. No one here is giving up hope either, if sheer will power means anything Sid will pull through. I hope you are looking after yourself ok too Lydia. Sid will need you to be at your best to look after him when he comes home.

I'm glad you got to visit Sid, and he was happy to see you.
I had to drive a very long distance to visit J.D. in Philadelphia, and it was this time of year, too. I think the visits meant as much to him as they did to me.
Sending feel better and get all better soon vines and snowflakes, to Sid. And Big Hugs to you.

I'm very sorry to hear Sid is still not well. I am sending him all the healing vines I've got. Don't give up Sid, we are all pulling for you. :YMHUG:

Hi Lydia,
You and Sid are in our thoughts and prayers today (and every day). I am so glad that you were able to visit him last night and that he was happy to see you. He certainly has not given up and your visit surely gave him strength and courage. We are praying that today will be the day that his potassium and phospherous levels come up and he will begin to feel better. Please take care of yourself so that you can care for your boy when he comes home. All of LL is with you.

Many, many :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: s

((((Lydia)))) Thinking of you and Sid today. Tarragon was like that in Sept and was in the hospital for 4 days so I know what you are going through. He is where he needs to be. You are a great bean and Sid loves you for it.

((((((Lydia and Sid)))))))

Glad you were able to visit also.

Have you posted his labs on FAF or the pancreatitis group yet?

Sending more hugs.

Karrie
