Getting a late start posting this morning. Still trying to grasp this early CKD diagnosis and what it really means.
The Renal Test prediction is "Positive for CKD in 24 months". Joined the CKD group but haven't posted there just yet.
I know this for sure (1) need to increase hydration (2) need to be more aggressive getting her BG under renal threshold more often (3) need to look at phosphorus in all her foods . Here I go down the rabbit hole of feline nutrition again :arghh::joyful:.
A huge THANK YOU to @Suzanne & Darcy for taking the time and looking at Cleo's labs.:bighug:

Don't know if your kitty likes pate but here is the list of the BFF line.

This is right from the Weruva site it's correct
@@Meredith Bear’s Mom

If you ever want to look up food on the Weruva site here is what you would go by

With weruva foods
You want the metabolizable energy profile percentage of carbs to be less than 10%, and the phosphorus which Weruva lists in Minerals to be less than 250 mg per 100 cals. So you have to look at two different places in the Weruva charts.
https://weruva.com

When you go to the weruva site and click on one of the pics of the food , click on Detailed Nutrition information that is under guaranteed analysis to the left
YOU WANT CARBS UNDER 10% AND PHOSPHORUS IDEALLY LOW 200's OR LESS

Yes start adding more water to her food. I also joined Tanya's site for CKD and they were very helpful. It was Tyler's brother Perry who had kidney disease.
When he was first diagnosed I can't remember ,he did live a pretty long time with it,many many years. He was not diabetic.
He passed away 2 years ago.:( He was my love!
I hope Cleo will like some of the weruva foods I listed from Christina one of our members :bighug::bighug:

Hi Angela. I'm sorry to hear of Cleo's CKD diagnosis -- but I'll quickly add that when Chispa was diagnosed, the vet told me that his own cat was diagnosed with CKD stage-II at age 12 and lived to be 19 before dying of cancer (not CKD)! He said they can plateau for YEARS. So while it's always upsetting to hear news of any changes in our babies, know that CKD is in no way a dire prediction.

I'm glad Diane has sent you a LONG list of CKD/FD-compatible foods! :cat:

Here is another resource that I found super helpful: https://catinfo.org/chart/index.php

It's an interactive food database where you can input desired values of phosphorous, carbs, and protein and it will come up with a list of foods that meet the criteria. (Chispa LOVES Weruva's "On the Cat Wok.") Also, Weruva recently came out with a line of specifically low-phosphorous foods that I haven't tried yet: https://weruva.com/

Hope this helps. Hugs to you and Cleo :bighug::bighug::bighug:
