Last Condo

Cinco made a quick trip to the lagoon this morning, but didn't stay long - maybe the water was cold. His rapid climb back up makes me wonder if I missed a lower number earlier. DH got up at his usual ungodly hour this morning and forgot that we shot late last night, so he gave Cinco his insulin at +11.25. o_O Not sure if that played a part in the dive, but I wouldn't be surprised. Then I slept late, so we don't know what he was doing when he was on his own. *sigh*.

I got my shot yesterday, and it was by far the most painful shot I have ever gotten (and I've gotten a few of them). It usually takes around 24 hours to feel relief, so I'm waiting for it to kick in - I sure hope it does, because this is getting really, really old! :( My rheumatologist changed my pain med (to another NSAID). She said we can build up tolerances after a while to one particular drug and they become less effective. I'd been on this one several years, so we're trying one that is new to me. Hopefully this change, plus the cortisone, will help. Meanwhile, typing is not fun. Thank God I'm not working anymore!

Harvey had a major scarf and barf yesterday, so this morning he got his breakfast in small servings, spaced 15-20 minutes apart, much to his disgust. He's kept it all down so far (anti-jinx). I guess this will be the norm for him from now on. Like feeding these guys wasn't complicated enough already!

I made the mistake of offering Minka the same entree as the others, from our current playlist, and of course, she walked away. A little Fancy Feast did the trick. I will continue to switch out FF with some of low phos foods I picked up this past week and see if I can keep her eating. My kitchen counter is packed with pill bottles and boxes and opened cans of cat food! Not much room for people stuff. ;) We tried Ziwipeak Venison and Fish yesterday and everyone liked it. Harvey liked it too much, hence his scarf and barf.

Sorry I didn't do any visiting yesterday. Will try to make up for it this weekend.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF & DH, Lisa's DF and Elise's DM. Thinking of Marje and her DBF.

Good luck with the food. Which ones did you get? Max liked Hills Ideal Balance but it's high carb so I stopped using it.

Ok, Cinco....if you stop right there it'll be a nice pretty cycle!!

I hope the shot helps really, really quickly, Tricia.

I hear ya on the pill bottles...Trix's pharmacy takes up half my laundry room counter! What can ya do??

Sending along all sorts of appy and anti-scarf-n-barf vines. Have a great evening, Tricia!

Nice to see Cinco back in the lagoon!! Even if he didn't stay too long!

Maybe he'll come for a moonlight swim tonight!

Sure hope the shot kicks in for you soon...Pain just plain sucks!

Pretty nice for Cinco today even if the lagoon was short lived. I know exactly what you mean when you say you have stuff all over your counter. My counter looks exactly the same way.

I really hope the shot and change in med will give you some relief. Sending many healing vines to you.

It's nice to see some green for Cinco today. Hopefully he'll get back there again soon. Good luck with the low phos foods with Minka. I hope the shot and the new pain med helps your hand.

Sending lots and lots of feel-better vines your way, Tricia. I'm so sorry your hand is bothering you so much right now.

I've been watching your progress - not just with Cinco - but with the whole crew. I simply don't know how you manage it all; you're definitely the epitome of a devoted bean, and you really do inspire me.

Prayers continue to go out to your gang. :bighug:
Shelly

Thanks for visiting, Elise, Amy, Chris, Georgia, and Carla.

@Shelly & Jersey ! Great to hear from you. I've been wanting to show you this for a while - I saw it in a store and immediately thought of you!

Everyone ate their dinner with little trouble (yes, everyone!). It was Ziwipeak Lamb and Rabbit. Harvey is still not a fan of the spoonful at a time method, but so far he's kept it down (anti-jinx), so we will continue until it doesn't work!

@tiffmaxee, I did not get the Ideal Balance, as the store I went to didn't have it, but it's on my list. I got the Ziwipeak, Hounds & Gatos, and some Nulo Freestyle. I took pictures of all the other brands they had that I am unfamiliar with so I can research them. They included Fromm, Fortis, Lotus, Pride, First Mate, Gourmet Carnivore and Applaws. Anyone know anything about these?

The shot seems to have given me a little bit of relief, but that joint is still painful, and I have come to the realization that the other joint on the same finger is also hurting. She couldn't give two shots in the same finger, anyway, so it doesn't really matter that I didn't realize it sooner. I think I'm just stuck being in pain. Hopefully the new meds will help.

@Chris & China, I'm hoping for a return visit to the lagoon, but only time will tell. He does love his yellow PS numbers, though.

If I remember right, the Applaws all had rice in them and ONLY 3 ingredients (meat of some kind, meat broth, rice) so my concern besides the carb values was "is it a complete diet"?

Hi Tricia! Glad to read that PM feedings went comparatively smoothly tonight. Vines headed your way for some pain relief! I hope the cortisone plus change in NSAIDs does the trick for you. I vaguely remember looking at Fromm's and seeing that all the canned foods had potato starch in them which made me think they may not be particularly low carb. On the Lotus, I had emailed the company at one point to try to get as fed values, but only got the guaranteed analysis values in response, so I decided to pass.

Nice to see that trip to the lagoon,Cinco!

Sure hope Harvey keeps his dinner down. I'm glad the others are eating. I can just imagine your kitchen!!

I'm so sorry about the pain in your hand. I hope the new meds and the shot will help you. You're amazing the way you keep going taking care of your babies when you are in so much pain.

Thank you for your thoughts.....life moves on, doesn't it? :bighug::bighug::bighug:
