Yesterday was a combo bounce/get over possible fur shot day. And UGH, we haven't seen that much pink for a while. So glad to see another colour today.

1/15 Recap:
AMPS 313 +3.5 293 +8.5 375
PMPS 366 +4 365

Neko definitely wasn't feeling great yesterday. She spend a good part of the day sleeping. On the positive side, she no longer feels comfortable in pink. Today she is feeling much better. There's been 2 yard patrols already and a good hour and a half purring session on daddybeans lap. Hence the +5 instead of the normal +4 today. It's a gray day here and still no precipitation forecast for a week!

I got a some new Lantus cartridges yesterday, for the first time without a vet's prescription. It's so strange here. I can just walk up to the pharmacy, ask for Lantus and get it. They ask if it's prescription or not (I said not, my vet charges $20 for a script) and they hand over the package. No waiting in line for prescription fills, easiest thing ever. However, if I say it's for a cat, they need a prescription. So I just kept silent. Actually, that's what the pharmacist told me to do last time. Yesterday there was a local new article about the cost of buying drugs at a vet or at a pharmacist. One example was a local person with a diabetic cat and showing that a Lantus vial can cost from $65 at a pharmacy to double from a vet. Another was for lactated ringers solution for a CKD cat and a big price difference there too. The annoying thing about the article and follow on live chat was that the local guy is buying veterinary dry food for his cat and on 5 units a shot, and blood testing. Wish I could contact him about FDMB.

Hi guys nice to see Neko coming down, those pnks suck & glad Neko doesn't like them either! How amazing you were able to get lantus without a script! Makes things easier! Hope you have a great day nap time for me

Re: 1/16 Neko AMPS 350 +5 155

That's interesting about no prescription.

I don't know if it's changed around here but it used to be that you could get animal medications cheaper than human even when it was
the same drug for both.

I guess they know who to squeeze for raising prices.

Nice blue, Neko....
How about a little green dip?

I've missed you little   friend! Happy to see you back. :-D

@Michelle - I had heard before you could get insulin without a script in Canada, I just hadn't tried it. I had tried at another store but as soon as I said it was for a cat it was "you need a prescription". My regular pharmacy was the one that said to just get it without.

@Rhiannon - Neko is doing the green dip as requested. :-D I just listened to the radio version of the article and the owner of the diabetic cat says he is paying more than $225/month. Even with my testaholic tendencies I'm probably closer to $120 for insulin, strips, lancets, syringes. Interesting on animal drugs cheaper than human. If it's the same drug for human as for animal, it's cheaper here to buy the human version. Especially if you don't have a vet that charges for a script.

Nice slide for Neko today. I wish we could get Lantus without a prescription in the U.S.

Hi Wendy.....wow, look at your beautiful girl. What a gorgeous green day for Neko

Gees, I wish I could just get syringes without a script. Here in NY state, we were able to send to Canada, without script, but no more.
I don't have to pay for scripts, thank goodness . Insulin needs script, for sure.

Hi Wendy, nice cycle today for Neko. Very interesting on buying the Lantus. When I buy my vial of Lantus at Walgreens, I pay tax for it. I questioned the Pharmacy, and I forget what the answer was, but I think it's because it's for a cat. When my Vet called in the script, he said it was for Maggie the Cat (my last name)! I will get him to change this next time. Thanks for your visit yesterday.

Looks like a nice little surf in the 60's. So glad to see this. I was getting disheartened after 3 cycles of mostly pink. She usually clears bounces a little faster than that.

@Carla - It is odd that we can get Lantus without a prescription, but are supposed to have a script if it's for a cat. Neko was a rainbow girl today.

@Barb - I do like Neko in green, and she feels better here than in those nasty pinks. My vet charged for a script last time, but not all vets do. It's so much easier not having to get the script first. They don't generally prescribe Lantus, so I have to tell what to write.

@Ann - Neko is listed as Neko (my last name), not as a cat, in the subscription system. People can claim prescription drugs on their extended health benefit plan or as tax credits (if enough of them), so I guess we have a monetary advantage for people getting insulin via prescription. Neko doesn't file income tax and I can't claim her as a dependent.

Nice surfing in the lagoon today, Neko!

Interesting about the prescriptions/no prescriptions. When we were able to get insulin from Canadian online pharmacies, we needed a prescription (it is no longer possible to get Canadian insulin online because of some new law that says that drugs that must be kept cold cannot be shipped anymore-- bummer, major bummer!). Linda tells me that the various Canadian provinces have different laws with regard to whether or not you need a prescription to buy insulin. Ontario does not require one. I have to find out about Quebec, because Montreal is only 2 hours from where I live in NY State.

Have a lovely evening, Wendy, and stay green, Neko!

Great back half of the cycle for Neko. I hope she can keep it here, but she did drop a fair bit today.

A couple of friends of mine were interviewed on the local TV station, they feed stray cats at the local race track. They made a point that they were crazy cat women, not crazy cat ladies. Sounds better that way.

@Ella - You could probably just phone a pharmacy in Quebec and ask whether a script is needed. Of course, it'll have to be a town where the primary language is English, unless you know French too. Most pharmacists I've talked to on the phone seemed pretty helpful. Or maybe one of the board members from Quebec would know.

@Rusty - Let's try it again tonight, the waves were rockin' today! ~Neko
