Not sure what to make of Max's BG #'s since the syringe switch. I'm going to try to do a curve this weekend. Last night's PMPS was 180, pretty good, and then the #'s just went up and up, +5 195 and +7 223. Maybe there was an early low I didn't catch.

Re: 1/16 Max AMPS 237

What syringes were you using and what did you switch to? Some are definitely better than others and Lord knows I've used a ton of them over the years. My favorite so far are BDs. but they are pricey. Right now I'm using my backups which are Relion and they are nowhere close to as accurate as the BDs.

One thing that helps me is if I have to use a different brand is draw a sample syringe in a used old syringe to compare to the new brand.

Re: 1/16 Max AMPS 237

I've never used anything but Relion, can't afford the rest. Lately, I've noticed the .5 mark isn't solid, like some of the ink is missing, makes it hard to figure the .5 or .75 dose. But......not much I can do about that, since the rest are at least twice as much.

237 isn't bad, always be happy when they are under renal threshold even if they aren't where you want them to be. After dealing with Lucian for over a year, under renal threshold always looks good to me. :-D Yeah, I'd like to see all blues and greens, but I'll take whatever is under 250 happily. :-D

Re: 1/16 Max AMPS 237

I was using a Walgreen's brand of syringe. I think I ran into a pinch one night the first time Max was diagnosed and they were open 24 hrs. Then, he went OTJ and I had a lot left over. They are really, really bubbly. I just switched to the Walmart Relion brand syringe. They are a lot less bubbly. I just can't figure out what's going on with the dose now, if it's too high or too low. I shot a fat .5u last night and it just seems like the #'s went up. I could have missed a low, but I tested at about 4.5 hrs, which seems early in the cycle to have missed a low and be bouncing already. Who knows? I know I'm always looking for a reason or a pattern when there might not be one. Just more trying to figure out what my dose should be on this brand, but I'm also tempted to go back to the other syringes bubbles and all cause my #'s seemed more consistent. I'll have to look into the BD brand syringe. I know I'm lucky Max's #'s are generally pretty decent. Gotta count the blessing when you can!

Re: 1/16 Max AMPS 237

ADW has the cheapest price on the BDs that I've found. I love them because the lines are very thin which makes the eyeballed doses easier to see. Our Walgreens refuses to sell me syringes because I don't have an insulin script on file with them  Even though I don't need a script for syringes in my state. So they are one of the few brands I haven't used.

The last box of Relion have been pure cr@p, crooked lines, partly missing lines, and sticky plungers which isn't to bad with Casey but with Autumn and her teeny tiny .1u its tough.

I had the same problem with Walgreens. They would not sell me syringes. I haven't been back to that store since.

I wouldn't fret over a 237. Still a good number for a pre-shot. I am not in love with the Relion syringes but gotta love the price.

Re: 1/16 Max AMPS 237, PMPS 138

Better PMPS tonight. I'm learning that knowing something isn't always knowing it (or at least remembering it), and I need a big ol' helping of patience (probably every day ;-) ).

I hear ya on the Relion. This last box I got the lines are not clear. I wish I could afford the others, would sure make accuracy easier. You just have to do the best you can with what you have.

Real nice PMPS numbers! :thumbup Might want to try to get a test sometime during the night, if you can, just to see if he goes low, which would explain it if he has a higher than normal AMPS in the morning.

I no sooner wrote that and saw the 93. ohmygod_smile

We were probably both writing at the same time Debbie, and it was good advice because AMPS was crap this morning. I wish I'd set my alarm for one more test during the night now.
