Atlas slept the whole day away and I even had to take him dinner in bed last night. Part of me wants to run him in to the vet, but other than him being slothful there are no real symptoms to discuss. We did quite a bit of bloodwork back in December and that came back Ok at the time.

MudCat and Gary continue to get more and more familiar with each other. You'd think after a nearly a 9 months everybody would be in their hierarchy position, but MudCat being torti ...she has her own ways.

Last night as I worked on my website Gary was keeping me company at my feet. MudCat approached him all chortling and tenatively trying to groom him. I could sort of tell he was surprised too. He turned toward her and she of course bolted out of the room. Gary sat there and just stared up at with his big green eyes as if to say...."What is her problem?" Later in bed I had Atlas on my pillow with me and the other two at the foot of the bed. Gary eventually go booted out of bed late last night as he was insisting on playing footsie with me!

Our day today is kind of busy.
We finally get to meet our new client Buddy the lab puppy today at 10am  ,
then we have to walk Hardy, Pugsley
and the girls Penny & Lexie, a
nd Miss Evie,
then late this afternoon the boys again.

They are on doubles today and tommorow.

I finally got connected up with Buddy's owner on the phone and we're going to have our hands full with him. They got Buddy at the beginning of last summer and pretty much attempted to train him themselves. They let the boys (children) handle walking Buddy all summer long and now that Buddy is much, much bigger she can't have the boys walk him and admits it is tough for her. There are plans for spring to get him into a training class and she mentioned her boys were wanting to do 4-H. Well, it just so happens I know a local trainer who does 4-H with dogs and Rally-O obediance! Their lives are a little complicated at the moment from some medical issues, so yeah...training Buddy is backburner for now. But...there is a lot we can do in the meantime. So I am looking forward to explaining how I can help. They've owned labs for over 20 years and just love the dogs, but she says Buddy is growing into one of the biggest she has ever had too.

So it is sounding like I'll have quite a challange on my hands and I think depending on the age of the boys, I may ask if they would like to schedule in home training time on Saturdays. Everything I do with Buddy is going to need to be reinforced by the family. From the parents ...right on down to the boys.

I recently read a FB post by a local radio host in our area about her boys and their dogs. They had a 'surfing' incident with the dog and a corndog (yum!). The radio host completely blew how to handle it. I responded to her concerns and what steps she needed to take with herself and eventually her dog. Lots of folks didn't like my post to her. . But, the radio host saw the wisdom in what I was telling her. They had been penning the dogs up during meals etc. to keep them from surfing. That does not solve the problem and she realized she finally needs to teach her dogs not to surf for food with young children in the home. Although I don't know of any dog that is going to be able to resist an corndog left laying on the coffe table!

Weezer had a lazy day yesterday too. Part of me goes straight to worry mode and part of me says "If I could, I would spend today in bed too". I hope today turns out more active and social for both of our kitties.

Re: 1/16 Atlas AMPS 200

Attie is so close to blue! Wouldn't breffis in bed be great? Our kitties have such a good life. Hope he is just being lazy and nothing is going on.

Sounds like you have your hands full with Buddy! We took our lab (Charlie) to obedience class as soon as he was old enough and it was a family thing so it would be reinforced by everyone in the home. We ended up going for two years. Labs are so sweet, but they grow fast and can be destructive if they are not controlled. Charlie has never had an accident in the house or destroyed anything he wasn't suppose to. I credit most of that to consistency and letting him know where his place in the pack was.

Have a great day!

Big dogs really benefit from professional training. When you consider having a large breed dog it is so important to be able to reasonably control the dog. As this owner is finding out, even with her experience, Buddy's sheer size is making it tough.

So, it will be interesting to see their reaction to me, as I am a whole 5ft. and 125lbs. ohmygod_smile. Training, training, training!

Well, looks like Attie had a good day today! Hope he is a good boy tonight too!

Well my meeting with Buddy went great! Buddy is a very shy and nervous dog. He needs some great confidence building. While the owners deny anything happened to instigate this behavior...I wonder if the boys did something and just never told. Kids can be pretty mortified when they realize they have hurt the spirit of a creature and never meant too. Honestly I was shocked to walk in the house and see this 70lb yellow lab peeking out at me from under the dining room table. I would toss him a treat and he would literally back away from it! :o We discussed Buddy's issues and Buddy stealthly investigated me. Finally I had the wife put his leash on him and hand it to me.

So....I worked with him for about a half hour in their beautiful big home. Up and down the hallway, through the grand dining room, to the foyer with the whole family watching me. By the end of the half hour the big yellow lab puppy that was too scared to even look at me was "prancing" with his head up, tail high and doing nice responses to commands of "come" and "sit." The husband was shocked. He claims he has never seen this dog "prance with pride," even as a tiny puppy. The dog is eager to please and with time & patience should turn around from this current situation.

I am going to start to push real hard to get these kids and dog into that 4H class for Rally or Agility. I think that will be Buddy's blessing. I guess it is time for me to go meet the trainers over at K-9 Coaches and see what I can get set up.

Days like today I really wish I would have had a digital camera and an assitant...yeah... I am real dang proud of what we accomplished today... :-D Today would have been YouTube worthy.

What a wonderful outcome for a half an hour of your time and what a gift you just gave that family! I suspect they will do pretty much anything you recommend.

Nice day for Attie, too!!

Hmmm...Attie....?

I had to deliver dinner #1 and #2 to him, plus he did not come runnng for his Lysine treats either. He ate all of them no problem, but just didn't come and get them.

He seems wonky. That is why I took our bedtime reading early, I thought maybe he was low....it seems he is running up instead?

I love reading your posts about your business!

you are excellent at what you do, beth!

and hoping Attie perks up for you...

Mr. gary...you got booted outta bed??
